@@littlesometin I live in Minnesota, USA. When my mom passed, her small amount of debt died with her since she had no assets to sell or take against the debt. She lived with me but the house and vehicles are in my name only. If she had a cosigner on any debt (which she didn't), that person would become responsible for it. I had to send her death certificate to the loan holder (for the one loan she had) and 2 weeks later I received a letter voiding the debt in her name. I can only speak for somebody in Minnesota, but I believe it's the same in all US states.

One thing I notice, especially among the men, is that those who indulge a lot of cash in their appearance and clothing, have especially awful homes. What's the point if your sitting around in a dump? No wonder they go out shopping day times and drinking night times. There is an element of fantastical thinking here. I care about my clothes and appearance, but you can make somewhere liveable and with a comfortable feeling with not much cash. Their taste is dubious and I can understand the psychological element as they've taken on a personality they've seen of other's lifestyles, while not developing one of their own properly, as if they are scared and have to escape themselves. And often, they have reason to be. The only way to get through that is to take time to sit and think, even sit with unpleasant and uncomfortable feelings, without judging yourself. I hope they get to learn this and can feel more at ease inside, rather than indulging and wasting all in outward appearances.
