That was a well written and well acted slice of reality, especially at the end, when we get to see Robert's Let's-Make-a-Deal side again. He never misses an opportunity to ingratiate himself and maximize what he gets from it. He was doing the same with Chrissie & Lachlan, of course, but it's a lot juicier when it's Aaron & Robert.
@aaronfan29569 жыл бұрын
Other than mending a few bridges I'm not really sure what he gets out of this deal. It's still classic Robert in a way yes, but a bit less selfish. He's working out a way to protect Andy and help Aaron at the same time. It's probably one of the more selfless deals he's made imo. What I really don't get it why Robert just doesn't tell Aaron. I think Aaron would be more likely to let it go considering Katie and all

+alwaysuseless Robert's mind is always looking out for Robert. Wonder who will cave first and give in.
@alwaysuseless9 жыл бұрын
+Aaron Fan You think it would be a better strategy if Robert told Aaron about Ross and Andy? (I'm spacing out at the moment. Does Robert actually know that the actual shooter was Ross?) Perhaps Robert is acting on the principle that the more people who know the more likely the whole world will find out. Robert's trying to seduce Aaron while also making peace with Andy. He can't do the latter, if Andy is exposed.
@alwaysuseless9 жыл бұрын
+kevinbaileydbfl By "who will cave first" I think you mean: Can Robert successfully court Aaron without confessing everything he knows? I don't know, but I doubt it.
@aaronfan29569 жыл бұрын

I don't know if it's the shooting or the fact that he was outed but Robert seems more at ease with himself. The fact that a week ago Aaron was yelling at Robert but yesterday and again today they can sit and have a normal conversation says that they are at least trying to be civil. I think the love they have for each other is the reason for this. If Robert can say "I'm your man" and Aaron can mumble " You're never going to be that again" without the hatred from last week, makes this progress. Is it a good that the man you love tied you up in a cabin, knock you out and try to shoot you? No! Is it Robron hot? Yes!

@Aaron Fan "You're never gonna be that agian." (Your quote of Aaron's telling Robert that Aaron will never be his man again.) They may reignite Robron eventually, but for now Aaron really means & feels what he says. So (imo) it's not a matter of Aaron's trying to convince himself or a case of his protesting too much. Robron is off for the short & probably medium term. In the long term, though, even if it's bad for Aaron, what's the point of having them always in each other's face, if they're not eventually going to be in each other's _____? (arms)
@aaronfan29569 жыл бұрын
I think it's what Aaron wants to believe. Not long ago he was willing to beat Robert to death (or threaten to if he didn't leave at least since Robert was shot first we don't know for sure) just to keep himself from going there again. Like he said then "I'd still have him back in a shot" That's why he made a point to tell Robert he hates him and that he will never be with him again. That way Robert won't even try and Aaron won't have to try and resist.
@alwaysuseless9 жыл бұрын
Aaron Fan Yeah, consciously Aaron wants nothing to do with Robert. Subconsciously he's conflicted. Robert is both sly & sexy. He'll find a way to weasel back into Aaron's heart, though the "final victory" may not be entirely intentional. For now, though, the wall is high, even if it's porous.

+alwaysuseless They have not been together for like 6 months already. That´s probably medium term for a soap already :)

sanyrub I agree 6 months is medium term for a soap, but I was thinking that the clock on likely rekindling only started when Robert recovered from being shot and, not coincidentally, began courting Aaron. Maybe I should rethink that.

Annoying as he is, I can see where Doug is coming from & Aaron is correct, he went down for the shooting, naturally he's gonna want to know who did it. Victoria's being her usual annoying self. Great to see Chas finally getting help.......I hope she is recognised for some kind of TV Award for her brilliant acting & Robert.....never misses an opportunity to scheme something up, as bad as he his, just can't help liking him.

Robert gets so much hate here, and I admit it, he's not exactly an angel. I just don't get why people are watching if they hate him so much?! Like.. there's been some bad development with characters that I used to watch, but I stopped watching them instead of giving myself grief. I just don't understand what pleasure people can get out of watching someone they hate, but ok. Whatever floats their boat I guess.

@aaronfan29569 жыл бұрын
+sanyrub Robert is still Robert just like Cain is still Cain and Aaron is still Aaron. They have grown as characters but not completely changed who they are. Obviously Robert is still on the redemption path here but he is changing. It's not like he manipulated Aaron into anything here. He was honest with Aaron and knew he was going to have to give him something in return to make him trust him. He is still a ways off but I do think he will get there. I don't think they will live happily ever after or anything but what soap marriage does.
@sanyrub9 жыл бұрын
Aaron Fan I wasn´t talking about now, in this episode. My point is same as yours. I´m talking about the distant future. Robert is not going to change in general, he´s already showing the "way" he is here and there again. They will get back together. I suppose this time he´ll treat Aaron better (I mean, aaron has to at least demand that this time). But eventually, don´t know when, he´ll hurt him again. I´m calling it now. Cheating, manipulations, I don´t know what, but he´ll hurt him (after a lot of passion and great scenes and stories that is :-D ).
@aaronfan29569 жыл бұрын
+sanyrub Apologies for the misunderstanding. We are usually on the same page except when it comes to Robert lol. I don't really want him to change. I want redemption similar to Cain. Still a bad boy but focused on the right people and definitely not Aaron or his family.

Tbh I think this is just another manipulation tactic from Robert in order to gain Aaron's trust again. Aaron may not be a huge fan of Robert rn but deep deep down he still has feelings for Robert and vice verse. I think their reunion is going to be a slow build. First sorta mates then questioning their feelings for each other to having actual feelings for one another (i.e. love?)
@MargauxChanning9 жыл бұрын
Robert's on his Redemption Tour - he will be all things to all people in an attempt to get everyone to forget just how much of a shit he has been since his return to the village: he'll help Chrissie stay out of prison; he'll mediate between Doug and the Dingles; he'll probably have some input on the upcoming Lachlan/Gabby/Eric fiasco, etc. The writers are going to put him back into play in the village as a viable human being and then take his storyline from there. It may be with Aaron (please god!) or they may have some other target in mind. We can only wait and see.

I can't begin to explain how much I loved this. From Robert being the only silent figure in the pub, just lingering in the background while the others bickered, to him swooping in at the end trying to save the day. And the sass between the two of them. Their chemistry is a living entity all its own. Of course, Robert has ulterior motives apart from making amends with Aaron but I'm quite used to it and I don't mind for once. And Aaron is indeed trying to put up a front. He wants to mean what he says but it's obvious that even he isn't 100% convinced. Robert will always be a weakness. Sidenote: in the beginning Zak says he's "pumping a pint for Marlon" but it's Cain who's on the other side of the bar and he even looks towards him when he says it. Was that a flub on the actor's part or the script and how did no one catch it? Or is it an easter egg that they just left in?

+jwsm2 Gosh, that would be disappointing if Robert married another woman. But it could happen. He'd just have to find a woman with lots of money and poor judgment. On your other point, I agree Aaron deserves a better lover, but I suspect the producer & writers aren't thinking a better love interest for Aaron would necessarily be a better storyline for the show.
