Great video. Would love to hear more about the finer details - like how thick to leave the base to allow for the foot trimming, how deep to cut the groove before cutting the piece apart, how thick/thin of a flange to leave. Would love to see cut away views. I have made many of these based on previous videos you have shared. I have had problems with warping, so if I have a nice tight fit at the green ware stage, the lid doesn't fit after glaze firing. Have solved this by making the walls thicker and the fit of the lid looser.

You said you waited 2 days before trimming,Did you cover this while it dried?

It all depends on the weather. In summer time I could trim the next day but winter maybe longer. Since my studio is in my backyard, I could come in anytime to take of the drying so no need to cover it with plastic bag.

When you fire this,do you glaze fire with lid on?

You have to fire them together to avoid warping.

Hsin, when you trim the bottom part of the box, do you round the top part of the flange? Hard to see the detail, when you did that part. I’m Just curious. The box is gorgeous. I love the texture pattern. Thank you for sharing. Juli, Tucson, Arizona. 🌵🌵🌵
