[375] How to Repair INSECT KILLER / BUG KILLER / ELECTRONIC BUG ZAPPER

in this video i demonstrated how to Repair insect killer bug killer electronic bug zapper racket. it takes 3v dc from aa size battery cells and it have a a purse generator consisting a transistor, resistors and a feedback coil of the high voltage transformer. the transformer generates high voltage which are connected to touch net of touch plates. so mosquitoes flies and other insects touch to these anode plates and resultant they are zapped.

How dangerous is a bug zapper?... Mine says 2,750 V @ 0.028 mA... If I we're to grab the end of it with the button pressed how bad would I get hurt?

wow it is great yes the button is to be pressed to charge and it will remain active for few seconds, after that its charged fence is discharged by means of internal bleeder resistor

if it was new piece. then you can ask the shop to replace it as it have fault. if you want to repair it check might be there is som disconnection might be pulsing transistor have problem, as it is not switching or may be metallic net, both plates are touching to each other

I have the same thing except mine's yellow. I got mine from Harbor Freight (US) tool store. (free with coupon!) It works a little bit. Quite a job to get a moth to fly in between the grids and stay there long enough to push the button! I didn't know that the charge remains AFTER you release the button. Maybe I was using it incorrectly. I love that you will fix anything in your videos. I got a good laugh. Thank you and have a nice day!

best regards it holds electrical charge for few moments. as it have a resistor across the capacitor, which will discharge the capacitor within few seconds, for safety purpose. wen we see fly or mosquito ,w we have to press the push button while flying the racket in air to hit the bug

Salam M Haseeb, how many volts are in the capacitor and what makes the transistor switch ?

when we press the push button, it makes a pulse, the capacitor is charged at 1000VDC approximately it holds the charge for few seconds, because there is a bleeder resistor across the capacitor for safety reasons, so when it is not in use, it will discharge the touch plates

Any idea what transistor is being used in these? I have one but it seems to take a while to charge up. I removed the bleed resistor from the main capacitor which seemed to help but after a few zaps it's weak while turned on and you have to wait some time before it zaps again.
