These guys like so many others , considered "Southern Rock", never got the recognition they really deserved. With exception... Leonard Skinard. These guys can really bring it ... Even now.

I'm 58, so the music was part of my youth...always well crafted, accessible....this song...the line "What if I'd been the one to say goodbye"....one of the best lines in a pop/rock song....before I knew I was hard of hearing, I thought the lyric was "Twenty-five and I want to say goodbye" then in the second chorus "Forty-five and I want to say good bye"....of course, later learned the correct lyric, but I ironic maybe the meaning is similar? Thanks for the great music.

I'm ten years older, and this song was part of my coming into adulthood. When it came out in 84, I was married and my first daughter was born. A nice time in my life. BTW; do yourself a favor, and never again refer to 38 Special as a pop/rock band. 😎

So impressive.. Don Barnes seems to get better with age.. The drummer is a complete beast..
@jdstarns308 жыл бұрын
The drummer is Gary "Madman" Moffat. He lost his wife a number of years ago to cancer.
@bradman19617 жыл бұрын
The drummer picked up the tempo after a few measures. I don't like when a drummer does that.
@JohnJohn-ir5hw6 жыл бұрын
It's stiff... not all "on the drummer" and very easy to have happen, especially in these day of digital drums and with "fragile" grooves such as this. The man is obviously a very skilled drummer/musician...happens with the best.

Van Zandt is like the dancer from the Mighty Mighty Bosstones. Brings nothing to the band..... Just there on stage.
@windk10010 жыл бұрын
Why the hate against Donnie Van Zandt? He has a wireless and this well-seasoned guitar player of 25 years hears that acoustic in there.
@2AChef-n-BBQ9 жыл бұрын
I guess you have to understand that Donnie did a lot of the harmony vocals and lead vocals. He is a much more integral part of the band than you give him credit for.
@jaylkeene82369 жыл бұрын
I've always figured they gave him a guitar that wasn't plugged...
