Nice demo. This video should be promoted higher in the algorithm because of the quality. Everybody else just tells you what they think it is, and you don't know. This makes it obvious. Thanks!

My mild custom 1998 Oldsmobile Intrigue 3800 Series II started a bearing rod knock as yours did - I changed oil to Synthetic and STP synthetic oil additive not traditional oil to nurse it, and it grew quiet but I'll keep my foot out of it. The main problem was standard recommended oil, it all started using passing gear oil sloshed a bearing dry.

Sup, did it return yet? or is it still fixed?
@enchantedundergroundorphanedgu Жыл бұрын
@@Circe-wz3kg Actually it seems possible the bearing slipped back into position after months of a steady knock with the STP additive and synthetic oil, I will make a point to keep my foot lite and not use passing gear but its running along pretty well in recent days. I read reviews that it is recommended to change R/R rod bearings every 60,000. miles for general maintenance.

@@roz4747 I bought new rod bearings and will go under the Intrigue and pull the oil pan- find it and change one. My mistake was the last oil change I went with OEM standard oil recommendations as opposed to upgrading to heavier Synthetic Oil. South Florida is warm all the time where standard thin oil failed when I hit passing gear. Repair shops near me say they don't do rod bearings.

@@enchantedundergroundorphanedgu thanks, be cool if manufacturers were required to notify people of these things. I picked up an 02 regal supercharged trying to see if it’s worth it to keep it….what weight oil you use now?

@@Circe-wz3kg I didn’t bother, I only had the car for a demolition derby and decided to scrap it instead of fixing it. But I’m assuming if yours sounds like this and the one I had… your gunna need a new motor or a complete rebuild
