As for genre, Band-Maid has come to define their own Genre. They have a unique sound and style that is theirs and very easy to identify when you hear it. So instead of saying they are in a pop, punk, rock, metal or whichever genre, it is safest to say Band-Maid's genre is "Band-Maid".

You guys get it. I appreciate your ability to hear the blending of multiple genres. The “pop sensibilities” keep me hooked. The Maids are a happy bunch and this is what comes through. You also notice musicianship and transitions and dynamics. Which reminds me of a favorite quote: “Band Maid make us better listeners of music.” Not sure what magical Maid musical blend you’re looking for next? Heavy metal instrumental: “From Now On” Tasty slow jam? “About Us” You like creative interludes? “secret My lips” (ignore weird title. It’s a banger) Meh. Whatever you pick next, I’ll be there! 🤘🏽

oh...Secret My Lips....followed by the awesome cover band, Band-Maiko (the only band which can, and does, go head to head with Band-Maid in talent, musicality and skills. Funny how they are never in the same room at the same time....Hmmmmm...🤔 🤣😂🤣), with "Secret Maiko Lips". That would be a awesome duo song reaction. PO!!! 🕊 WORLD DOMINATION 🤘😆🤘

As a fella who bought his first Rock album at the age of 9 in 1974 (Meet the Beatles) I can , with all sincerity, say that Band Maid is easily the best thing in music in over 30 years ! IMO , BLOOMING is the Maid's Stairway to Heaven . NOT that it's my most favorite , but that it shows how good a band can be when everyone contributes to the writing process and painstakingly works to craft a masterpiece ! ♥️🤯

First band I saw live in over 30 years - they are so professional and good at what they do that it is a real pleasure to listen and watch. They come from a culture that has not yet degenerated to the point that it is no longer capable of producing things worth watching - unlike here in the states. They remind me of bands like Journey or Speedwagon back in the early 80's with their great song writing and playing skills.

Perfect comparison! I’ve seen REO and Journey in their primes, and the biggest takeaway was how damn good they are live. Just like the records. Band Maid definitely matches them in that regard 👍🏽

They ended their January Tokyo Garden Theatre concert with 'Choose Me', which was the 26th song of their two and a half hour show. And it was still as energetically performed and played note-perfectly as the MV. THE best band on Earth!

Did you know it's illegal in all countries to stop a Kanami, MISA or Akane solo midstream? Yes! And it's an infraction of various laws that, if you do stop, not to go back to the beginning of that solo or transition before restarting the MV. Just thought you'd like to know before you get a knock on the door! 😯 Thx, Vincent & Jason!🤘🤣

KANAMI’s solos are all carefully constructed musical pieces, with a beginning, a middle, and and end, which are inserted into carefully constructed songs. If you ever stop in the middle of a solo, you need to rewind to the beginning so you can hear it in its entirety. When you stop in the middle of a song, hit the left arrow key once or twice before resuming.

Except for the very early days, all of MISA's basses are 5 Stings. It's easy to spot her Fender Jazz Bass. It's in a Natural Finish and has Jimi Hendrix stickers on it. It was retired when their songs began to demand a 5 Sting to play them. Don't forget the LIVE version of 'Choose Me'. It Rocks!

Hey you played the two songs used in the Netflix movie “KATE”. The Maids even make a cameo in the movie, playing Choose Me, in fact!! You should check it out, it’s a rollicking shoot ‘em up good time. Yeah, I don’t know of another band on planet earth 🌎 that combines all the elements of great rock music as well as the Maids. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Next? Have you done?: - “Daydreaming” - official MV? - “Bubble” - official MV - “Warning” - official MV Take care and rock on 🤘🏼🔥🎸🥁🎤🎼😎✌🏼

You guys might be old enough to remember when "pop" music was really excellent; creatove and inventive. The Beatles had hits with songs like "Ticket to Ride," "Yesterday," "Nowhere Man," "We Can Work It Out," "Paperback Writer" and the list goes on and on. But it wasn't just them. Simon and Garfunkel were putting out "Sounds of Silence" and "Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme." The Byrds had hits with "Mr. Tambourine Man" and "Turn! Turn! Turn!" The Rolling Stones with "Paint It Black" and "Ruby Tuesday," Marvin Gaye, Otis Redding, Aretha Franklin, and I've only used 1965, '66 and '67 as an example. Sadly, large corporations discovered how much money could be made from entertainment, and with size and money came investors who are risk-averse and want guaranteed returns on their investments. For the four decades (plus or minus) almost everything creative is limited in its potential distribution by the trust the investors put in the creators. That means copying what was previously successful, at least in the eyes of the MBAs who control the funding. Now we get film franchises - The X-Men or the Marvel Cinematic Universe, or highly derivative pop music sometimes written by committee and delivered by known quantities like Beyoncé, Katy Perry, Harry Styles. I'm pretty sure Band-Maid will _never_ be on the pop charts in the west. They are not a known quantity, they do not play to the known formula, and they are not represented by the right corporations (and if they were, they wouldn't have the freedom to write and play what they do). If Kanami can write things that get picked up by movies like "Kate" or "Peacemaker" they may find a way into the system without compromising their integrity. It reminds me of Rush: _All this machinery making modern music Can still be open-hearted Not so coldly charted, it's really just a question Of your honesty, yeah, your honesty_ _One likes to believe in the freedom of music But glittering prizes and endless compromises Shatter the illusion of integrity, yeah_

@@daaaaaave I had this all written out before I saw your comment! MISA was playing a 4-string Fender J-bass (with block inlays and a Jimi Hendrix sticker) when the band started. You see it in all their early music videos; "Thrill," "Real Existance," "The Non-Fiction Days," "Alone" ... she's playing a 5-string in the concert footage for "Before Yesterday" but it was likely recorded with the J-bass, too. She started playing a red sunburst 5-string J-bass (shape, at least) sometime late in 2016 and you see it in the videos for "Choose Me" and "YOLO," and various 5-strings since. She played a black Black Cloud J-bass shape for many years, and now seems to prefer the relic natural finish Black Cloud.
