A great and straight-forward video, sir. I'm not for going DCC yet m'self but it's good to 'get practice in', as it were, and see the different types of DCC chips out there. A Bachmanns pre-installed machine that I picked up at the last show I got to, the wires are so thin and hair-like. Those lads looked way more chunky!. !:^) Nice to see new life in an old Growler too. Wow! Really impressed with your clear explanation of servicing the locomotive. Most of my stock is well over 30 years old and never been serviced as I had no idea how to do it. This has given me food for thought. At least I know which points need oiling now. Still not sure I’m ready for DCC though. Thanks for sharing. Roy.

Wow you made that look easy. I have a Hymek class 35 I think but haven't opened it up yet. ( When I find out how to.) I think it has side clips but a bit afraid of breaking them off though. I don't yet know what motor is in it as I'm new to medel trains but the very new models over £120 pund I couldn't ny longer justify the cost as a retired bloke on a pension. Great video, and thank for uploading, long may it continue.

Hi love the video, I want to convert a hornby class 37 loco to dcc which I bought in 1979 it has a ringfield motor but it only has one wire a brown pick up to the rear bogies so please how do I connect the 4 wires that you talk about I understand the orange and grey, the black to the rear bogie so where do I connect the red wire on the front bogie. Appreciate you help Thanks

Thanks Fern. That motor is used on one of the models of a Donegal Railcar. Was giving it a service at the time.

I have a pair of wire strippers. See video kzbin.info/www/bejne/pqS6oayqh9Gka6s I also sometimes just use a pair of snips.

@@DonegalDadRail They must be very small strippers that don’t just cut the sheath and the wire and leave you with just a shortened wire.

They can be adjusted for wire thickness.
