Thanks for your "ride" on CalTrain. It's been years since I've been on it. I might give it a try when it becomes electrified. Also... I always get a chuckle about how "easterners" experience our weather. You called it "mist." The weather people call it a "marine layer" or "low clouds." We always call it "fog." During the summer it comes in farther and farther each night and burns back less during the day. Eventually it cools down the central valley. When this happens the onshore wind dies down and the coast warms up for a couple of days. Then the cycle starts all over again.

Well, we easterners literally speak a different language, even though it’s understandable English. The accents I heard were almost like a needle in my back. Here on Long Island we seldom hear the term marine layer and when we get fog, it’s when you can’t see a damn thing 5 feet in front of you. Our winters haven’t been as bad as they have been in years past. In Spring we get the cool breeze off the cold Atlantic but if you go 15 miles further inland it’s about 15° warmer. Summers are warm and sometimes hot and humid. Autumn is the best time of year here. We get some Indian summer days when it gets warm after a frost. by late October and early November the leave starts to look really good. As much as I enjoyed San Francisco, I think in time I would miss the four seasons.

@@3985uprr We live in Roseville, just east of Sacramento. We've had many days over 100 this last month. I like valley weather but do miss the coast when it gets hot. I grew up in Marin County. We had a great third rail electric commute system but it was removed in 1941 just after I was born. If it had lasted several more months we might still have it. They have SMART now but it isn't as extensive as the old Northwestern Pacific System. "Longa Island", you say?😉 I did ride the LIRR out to Westbury a couple of times. I even rode the Pennzy behind a GG-1 once. What a fabulous locomotive.

Real good coverage! I've ridden the route hundred's of time over 20 years and have seen that view. How the window get so clean. Yea, they have already tested the electrics and it will be very boring. Regards, Jim Evans, Five Chime Consultants

Sir! I’m a Philadelphia native that’s lived in South San Francisco and San Bruno for the last 12 years. I enjoy your SEPTA vids when I’m missing home, and now you’re here. The electrification on this line is very recent. The microclimates are nuts, you can see a 30+ degree difference between say Palo Alto and Millbrae. I live in San Bruno and can see these tracks from the window of my house. South San Francisco is the biotech hub of the Bay Area. The buildings you are seeing there are all new. It’s Brisbane Lagoon btw. Thank you sir for the wonderful video 🙏🙏

Hi again. I use to live in the East Bay for 23 years and always enjoyed going into San Francisco on the BART trains during weekends. Spent much time doing walks in the city, such as Aquatic Park, Marina Blvd, and the West coastline. Spent many great times having dinner at Tommys Joynt and having Swensons for dessert! Worked with several companies in the city and I knew the cable car guys who let me ride for free! I have also taken Caltrain when needed and have attended two Gilroy Garlic Festivals on the Garlic Train.

Nice video. Caltrain is looking brand new and very similar to the NEC in some manner. The new catenary is nice, and different from Amtrak's New Haven to Boston . It looks like something of a hybrid thing, mixing french, german and japanese parts. Nice to see the good ol' gals, the AEM7s. The one on Caltrain colours is a beauty . Also nice to know that at least some of the F40s will soldier on. I tought one of these days one would have to go to Canada to see some of them running (VIA units really run. Still doing 95 Mph on a daily basis, and will in fact outlive the P42s).

@@mariovieira838 Some parts of the Caltrain corridor still use old Southern Pacific tracks and aren't up to high speed standards. Similar to the New Haven line...
