39K mile Rolls Royce transmission valve body rebuild ZF6HP32

my 2006 Rolls Royce Phantom SWB with 39,000 miles started getting some nasty shift flares and random park engagements. I decided to fully service the ZF made 6HP32 transmission with solenoids, a bridge gasket, mechatronic seals, E Plug, etc.

The amount of room you have on that is crazy. Just did my M140i on the driveway and burnt my hand a million times on the exhaust that practically touches the fill plug on the ZF! 😂

the ZF8HP has a much wider valve body and pan than the ZF6. this is pretty typical clearance for all ZF6 vehicles I've worked on. all the more reason to never, ever ever ever EVER buy an automatic.

What fluid did you use? I jave the zf 5hp24 on my x5 and people say only use lifgaurd 5, im tempted to use redline d4 for the savings.

Pentosin ATF-1 or better. I keyed in VIN on my IMC and bought the recommended pentosin.

I always have a jar of (now very expired) Grey Poupon in the cup holder. it pleases the boomers when they ask at stop lights.

Such a poor excuse for a transmission, I experienced hell trying to get my e66 to shift even remotely normally. Solenoid kits never seem to have the right solenoids or plunger, mechatronics have about a million variations, good riddance to that car and hope to never own one again. And the seatbelt receptacle airbag light made me laugh, sure it's not an e66? lol

plugged it in to my BT Pro and clicked E66 because closest option - almost everything worked straight away. lol.

You used 9 quarts of transmission fluid or 8? (9 is a little to much) I also need this service for my phantom. How much would this type of labor cost? I am in New York City.

not sure - this was a bit ago now. only intended as entertainment, not as a DIY. Almost bought a phantom out of NYC a couple of years ago.
