Only woman figure skater I've ever seen to end a routine with a headless scratch spin. Also used to do a death drop (not here though), a rarely done skill by women.

This is soooo current to me because this kind of program/skating raise a lot of questions about feminity and strength. I mean, she was a superwoman out there and not pretending to "look like " as the traditional concept of what "women are supposed to be": soft, delicate, traditionally musical, charming and even frail bla bla bla. She was so misunterstood because of that and she deserved a 6.0 across the board simply for the putting effort of trying everything to look different.

In my opinion, she is the most brilliant ladies skater ever. The only reason why she got cheated out of Olympic gold was over compulsory figures. What a great athlete. There will never be anyone like her.

Here again one cannot underestimate the importance of the interpretation of the music. The music must become part of the skating or it is simply a exercise of skating of separate jumps, etc. This is outstanding, if I say so myself....especially in lieu of the lack of practice meaning it was all put together a few days before this performance. The jumps are there...now blend these jumps and movements to the music.

There’s no doubting her amazing stamina and the fact that she can still pull off triples at 31. I think every single professional programme I’ve seen of hers has had this same energy and speed. I remember one of the commentators saying once that she’d done a 2 hour aerobic class between technical and artistic programmes and since then I’ve wondered if she’s a bit obsessive about exercise/staying in shape.

She simply became the most accomplished female figure skater of all-time. She won the most world class events (23) than any other woman ever has (and you can throw in 19 2nds). She was the greatest spinner & one of the best jumpers. Denise owned the ultimate combination of eye appeal & athleticism (which she amazingly maintained into her 50s) in skating history.
