3CX Basic 2: 3CX Apps & IP Phones

I'm new to this and still do not understand purpose of sbc and router phones. If I have small office with only 4 IP phones, is sbc/router needed? Cant I just manually setup standard IP phones to 3cx cloud? Helping me understand this concept will be much appreciated.
