I was amazed when I found out that Natron exists. It really needs so little to be competitive with AE. The support for 3D camera and 3D workspace would make the total switch to Linux a breeze. but I guess we still got Blender for all those 3Dimensional features...

Extraordinary man, congrats ! Very nice and useful info, especially with blender, I never knew how to do that tracking... I would love to learn blender only for that thing !

Cool, I've been looking for this kind of stuff in Natron for ages! I was about to give up on Natron because of the lack of 3D workspace. This is not ideal but I'm a fan of little hacks that save the day.

Where were You 3 months ago when I was working on huge production completely new to Natron? This is a great software and needs more tutorials. I had really hard time learning everything by myself and figuring out weird Natron quirks. So I hope for more, much much more, so quick, give me Your patreon!

Hi, I know it's a bit dated, sorry for that. Have you tried the PM Camera: github.com/NatronGitHub/natron-plugins/tree/master/Transform/PM_Camera and PM Card3D: github.com/NatronGitHub/natron-plugins/tree/master/Transform/3D_Card in Natron community's plugins? For my understanding and if I'm not mistaken, they look like a more cooler way to accomplish what you're demonstrating in this video. I've tried your method and it works just fine. But when I used them to accomplish the same result, my element is sliding. I don't know if I'm doing something the wrong way. Does anybody has experience with them (PM Camera and PM Card3D)?

I haven't. Unfortunately, I've had to finally move beyond Natron as the project just isn't active enough. If it can ever gain traction again, I'll be jumping back to it

Hi Indie Rebel. Your videos are great but I'm sorry I'm having trouble following this tutorial. Since you had the city video already tracked before you recorded this tutorial, I'm just guessing that - 1) first you tracked the video using some trackers, 2) then you created the empties and then markers to mesh. Then, you're selecting one marker and exporting it as file.chan and then selecting the camera and exporting as camera.chan. But when I follow the same steps, my scene doesn't appear tracked inside Natron, also the card appears so small in size, I've to use a transform node to make it the right size. I feel I'm doing something incorrect but not sure what it is. Can you please help? Also couple of questions - 1) With the method you showed in the tutorial, is corner pin Card3d possible? For example a mobile phone screen screen is tracked in Blender and it is moving the user's hand. Can Card3d node be used to exactly match the orientation and replace the screen texture? As I was not successful using the simple example above so I couldn't try this complex move. But want to know is it possible? 2) If it isn't possible yet, are there any chances of getting it inside Natron? Is anyone developing Natron at this moment? Since Blender's tracker is advanced than Natron's, and Natron's compositing workflow is better than Blender (I feel and you've also demonstrated this in one of your tutorials), integrating these two is much needed. 3) Is it worth continuing with Natron for compositing, or tracking and compositing in Blender is more wiser choice, considering Natron development is slow (I feel) and it misses a lot of features as of now?

you can do this all in blender
@IndieRebel5 жыл бұрын
I never said you couldn't, the question is though, would you really want to? Blender's compositor is highly inefficient, so being able to take 3D data from it and use the data in a real compositing app is a good option

How do you know to do all this? How do you figure this out? -Also why don't you ever reply? I have asked a couple questions or so.

Hey Max, sorry. I run a few channels and am busy getting ready to shoot a new feature film, so I don't always see comments. There's an old saying that necessity is the mother of invention. I learned After Effects after I outgrew what my editing software could do. I learned Nuke when outgrew After Effects. Then at work we briefly switched to Natron instead of Nuke, so I had to figure out how to do things I was accustomed to doing. It's basically just a LOT of R&D. Reading every forum post and article I can on VFX techniques and experimenting with the tools I have (or am allowed) to use.

Thanks fro the reply, very nice to hear from you directly! I'm currently trying to learn Natron and I am looking up to you for help. Thank you very much. I asked a few questions on your posts. One of my main concerns is rotoscoping and replacing backgrounds or removing elements. I am trying to go beyond After Effects. Thanks again! Please do more Natron tutorials if possible!!!!
