Exiting. I used lighting in the late1990's to create golden text on some wedding albumcovers. I was scanning the images from film to get them into photoshop, where I made a composite of the brides flowers, the (typical) old car that took the coupple from church, the golden wedding ring, and then the coupples names in pure gold. It is more then 20 yrs ago, so I forgot how I did it, so I am happy to see theese videos. Thumbs up!

In regard to “forgot how I did it”, which must be very common for many-including me. Colin is a master and an excellent teacher, however this demo looks very labor-insteps I’ve. So my question is: is there a way to go into The middle of this process and change some values or do I need to start from the beginning and get to the step that I want to change? I do realize not many people told Michelangelo to “Hurry up”- but today many of us have deadlines. Thanks much.

Hi Colin, I discovered your chanel a few weeks ago. Very impressiv! By trying out your tutorial-tips on 3D lightening effects I failed. I could not direct the spots and the function Ctrl+H doesn't work on the latest PS. Did something change? Would it be possible to make a new tutorial for the new situation? Thanks a lot!!

Hi there -- thank you for this video. I am allways very excited to learn about new techniques that haven´t really been touched yet since they fall into a kind of specialized sector. The way you explained the alpha channel by looking at it in 3-D space was very helpful. Actually that reminded me of something I think I heard once: that you could use this channel to help your create a more realistic "fake" depth of field when using the lens blur effet -- I´ll have to dig into that again. On your last video about your home workspace you mentioned your mouse being helpful when using Maya -- so you also do ray-tracing work? thanks and have a nice day!

If you want to match resolution, you need to downsize the largest image to the size of the smallest

So unfortunate that photoshop is getting rid of the 3D features! I got a really cool result, even with being unable to move the light around (clearly there is a reason they're doing away with them) This tutorial was super helpful and easy to follow!
@paultodd78064 жыл бұрын
Hey Colin, I have been trying to follow this with my company logo, RGB, 8 Bit as suggested. But every-time I try and paste into the Alpha channel I just get (Black) not the de-saturated image as in your tutorial. What have I done wrong?
@photoshopcafe4 жыл бұрын
Select all, copy and paste? Make sure the logo layer is rasterized too. Right click on the layer (in layers panel) and choose Rasterize layer.

@@photoshopcafe Hi, I have tried to Rasterize layers but they are grayed out? I only have 2 layers + a background?
@paultodd78064 жыл бұрын
Hi Colin, for some reason none of the layers are not allowing me to rasterise them “they are all greyed out”? Both images are Tiffs, could this be the problem or is it because my logos are not from Adobe illustrator🤔
@photoshopcafe4 жыл бұрын
They are probably already rasterized
@paultodd78064 жыл бұрын
photoshopCAFE Yes I guessed that, so why when I copy and paste it does not show up? I have copied your steps bit by bit. When I go into the alpha channel I get a black layer, when I paste I just get the black alpha layer? I can’t see the image I have pasted? Am I doing something wrong?

PSCC 2020, 8 bit, RGB color settings. The lighting effects page opens but the oval or circle to manipulate light size/direction does not show. Click ctrl-h to view but no response. Using a video card that is powerful enough to do all tasks with graphics processor turned on. Have tried this several times but no results are possible. Would love any feedback to assist. Very frustrated. TIA
