Hi, you can assign different layers to front and back, first add a new layer, add whatever effects you want to it, then in shatter - texture settings select it as back layer and choose effects & masks property next to it.

Great video, cheers. I have a question - how do you set the anchor point to the middle of the object (half way into the extrusion) so it rotates around that point, rather than the anchor point being on the front face?

In that case you should add a camera layer, then a null object, make it 3d and parent the camera to the null, then animate Y rotation on the null object, it will make it rotate evenly on all sides

If you add a camera into the composition and use the setting to control with comp camera, you can rotate the camera after centering the view. Parent camera to a null object, makes it even easier to animate.

Yeah you can set rotation value to 2 or move keyframes closer to each other. Not sure about the edge though

@@SmertimbaGraphics I somewhat found a solution. I think the problem is that my logo is white and the side color I tried to do was a dark grey/black. So when it rotated to the back it was not white but the dark grey color. I fixed it by making the side color a white. It doesn’t have the depth and dimension like before but it works.

Hi, to obtain a real 3D object in AE, I mean an object you can rotating and seeing 3d extrusion without using a camera, you should to digit "index" on z axis and copy the object on that axis many times dont you?

There are many ways of creating 3d extrusion, this and indez on Z axis are just a few of possible ones. True 3d layer is created via cinema 4d renderer though, geometry extrusion with lighting and all that

Try moving the keyframes closer to each other, if it's an fps issue go into composition settings (CTRL+K) and increase fps to a higher value

You can choose any color for the side, it does not have to be darker than the front or back. Adding a different image to the back would require additional steps. That's the limitation of this effect, just one color can be applied, no gradients
