Yeah, this is an actual 3d setup, should come in handy without the need to add paths yourself to a shape layer

Hey Would you Suggest pc or mac for these types of work? For someone in the market for a laptop, Budget is not an issue.

I have a mid range laptop myself that I am quite happy with. It's lenovo loq 15, i7 13650hx paired with rtx 4060. But if you can get better specs it will only run things better, although things could get expensive once you go beyond 4060😂

Hi there, why don't you just use photoshop to remove the white background and the white color between the letters? Is photoshop file not compatible with AE?

You can't create shapes from a Photoshop file in after effects. Illustrator on the other hand allows such workflow

Yes, I am using the latest version 24.6, also the latest for the illustrator

hey man, the Geometry Options is grayed out for me, is it bcs i have a logo with a gradient color ? if so, is there any solution?

No, it's because the renderer is set to classic 3d. Set it to advanced 3d instead in the composition settings or under the preview window

Basically you need to get a 3d model in .obj format. There are many stock footage websites where you can download them, just search on google. Then add .obj format file into after effects and it will be added as a 3d layer that you can animate like shown in the video for example.

I've followed the steps, but once the bevel was done I could not rotate the object at all, it only grabbed the outlines or traces. Any idea what's going on?

You should be able to rotate the object freely once you've made the shape layer a 3d layer🤔

Yeah, you need to convert the illustrator file into a shape layer regardless
