That honestly sounds a lot like a real radial engine... My family owns a Cessna 195, and this has an insane resemblance of our airplane at ~2500 rpm on takeoff! It’s amazing how such a similar sound comes from a model of that size. Awesome video! I know what I’m printing next! 😉

They are usually the price of a medium priced car. If you live in a place with a lot of airports and have a pilots license, it may be worthwhile to buy one.

just kinda how sound works, stuff with a similar shape, traveling at a similar frequency, will sound similar. Some people analyze the frequency of a sound for determining rpm and stuff. Kinda cool.

Nothing new Ukrainian Antonov bureau made 32 jet engines using compressed air. A engineer from Antonov took the concept and placed in a Volga car body in 1986 and Gorbachev drove it and suddenly stopped asking the inventor what are running this car on he replied air . Gorbachev said we spent billions of dollars in Siberia on oil and gas ventures disallowed the invention but the engineer won a medal .

What if you could recycle the exhaust air and dump it back into the compressed air canister?
@felixb.17564 жыл бұрын
Free energy?
@glowworm33454 жыл бұрын
The engine can only recycle as much energy as it outputs. In a completely isolated environnement with no friction or wasted energy, the engine could recycle its own power and maintain perpetual motion. But the second you try to use the rotational energy of the engine for something else it would begin to run out of power, because the engine would be loosing power on its output that it could’ve recycled to power its input.
@temptemp11923 жыл бұрын
@@glowworm3345 But by doing that it would become more efficient if it were in a RC plane or something
@mitri53893 жыл бұрын

@asslowshop3963 жыл бұрын
The pressure of the compressed air canister would overcome the exhaust system, in order to equalize atmospheric pressure. It wouldn’t work. I wish it would though

I'm really wondering, how close would it sound to an Inline-5 without this propeller.
@rogerflagg8253 Жыл бұрын
As with most aircraft engines, most of the noise comes from the prop. This is especially true of the blades on a helicopter. I haven't run it without the prop tho.
@Max_Chooch Жыл бұрын
Does it blow more air than pointing the air line at your face? Or is this part of the law of diminishing returns?
@rogerflagg8253 Жыл бұрын
Well I haven't done any tests. The compressed air is just a method of running the engine.

Hi Ethan. I printed this engine a few years ago and it was a huge project. The printing was pretty straight forward but the assembly and getting tolerances right so it would run freely took some time. I wouldn't want to go thru it again. I have included the design link. Good luck if you try it.
