5:00 shits, i glued that white shaft to a next step bush before i attach these grey little rotors. So, i needed to cut grey rotors to attach it :(

Thanks for this video! made my life a lot easier. I didnt have to use much glue as the fittings were quite snag. For the stripe in the front nose I put it in warm water so it was flexible when applying.

Interesting idea. I've tried using a heat gun (lightly) before, but you have to be really careful with that. For the water, did you soak it to heat it up, then dry it off a bit before gluing it on? Just wondering about the glue adhering if the part is still wet.

@@TacCom I use a heatgun to get rid of some of the small hairs... but indeed you must be very carefull. What I did with the stripe was: dip it in hot water and when soft shape it around the cone bit by bit. After that it had almost the correct shape. Then I just let id drie and glued the beginning and end with a small dot of glue. worked perfectly.

hi there, i printed bearings for the jet engine and they spin pretty well. should i glue the bearings to the shafts?
@TacCom
@TacCom 2 ай бұрын
You can, but it shouldn't be needed. If you do, make sure to spin it for a while while it dries so that you ensure no glue got into the bearings. Also, IDK what the longevity of printed bearings are. May be safer to not glue them so that they're replaceable.

Hi, May I know if you have a 3D model file for the fully assembled version (say STL or OBJ file)? I'm thinking to use it for an AR application.

I think it's close to ~70 for materials and print time. ...not including any processing, set up, wear and tear, ect. It depends on how cheap you can find the hardware and bearings.

Great vid! But I'm having issues with the HPT-section it seems. When I spin the fan the LPT spins, but HPT does not (and spinning HPT does not spin fan and HPT). Any ideas where the problem is? And good ideas on how to fix it?
@TacCom
@TacCom Жыл бұрын
This is a "dual spool" engine. The LPT drives the Fan and the HPT drives the HPC. So, it sounds like it working properly. The 2 spools should spin freely from each other.
@dufric88
@dufric88 3 жыл бұрын
Question, how do you get your model spinning as freely as it does? I was able to shave plastic in various places to create the necessary clearances such that nothing is scraping, but because of the grease, my bearings are way too gummy to spin more than one rotation with a push. I even purchased another brand of bearings and had the same issue.
@TacCom
@TacCom 3 жыл бұрын
Clearances were a big part. But for the video, I used a leaf blower to blow into the engine and make it spin.
@dufric88
@dufric88 3 жыл бұрын
@@TacCom I figured there was a blower involved. My main issue is in the LPT. The HPT spins beautifully, but it seems like no matter how I slice and print or sand, the LPT always wobbles and rubs. Any tips here?
@andrewwinsor5025
@andrewwinsor5025 3 жыл бұрын
@@dufric88 I'm running into the same issue - I found that making sure the shaft was on exactly straight helped a good deal, and the rest was able to be taken care of with some aggressive sanding. LPT gave me far more issues than any other part of this build!
@l.w.c.2519
@l.w.c.2519 2 жыл бұрын
Your issue is the bearings themselves. Sealed bearings are full of grease as you indicated, which creates a ton of resistance for such a light model like this. Grease is useful in bearings when they are under much more load and need to last longer. Take the bearing seals off and remove all of the grease with something like brake cleaner. Then add a couple drops of light oil instead. Your model will spin much more freely, guaranteed.

right now i cant buy the screws or nuts. Do you think it will work if I 3d print them? And also, are the washers essential for the engine? thanks for the great video, I hope you answer :)

I don't think 3d printing the bolts/screws/washers/nuts. Threading wouldn't work well at that scale. Washers probabaly aren't essential... But they probabaly help. If you can't wait to get ahold of the parts, I guess you could just glue them.

Trent 900 is a 3-spool design. This model only has 2-spools. There is hardly any similarity. What has many confused is I designed a nacelle for this model based upon the Trent 900. But the core engine itself it not based upon the Trent 900.
@worldwidepig
@worldwidepig 7 ай бұрын
@@rtwileyrc8030 Is this Nacelle model you speak of the one with the Chevrons on the rear of the nacelle? If so, you should probably be aware that the Chevron design is a Boeing design and is utilized for the Trent 1000 engine on the Boeing 787. The Trent 900 powers the Airbus A380 and hence does not have the Chevrons on the nacelle.... Just FYI....
