do just the keys are 3D printed..? Not the reeds..? We did try 3D printing some duduk reeds years ago.. but it was hard at that tage to get any sense of grain in the plastic so sounded terrible.. But i have a friend now who is 3D printing entire bagpipes including the reeds and they're not bad at all..
@MelodicaWorld4 жыл бұрын
That's right, the reeds were from a Yamaha P37D, I cut the reed plates down. Would be great to hear your friends bagpipes, is it on youtube?

I don't think the melodica is for children or is just a toy. Many orchestras have them now, and the one you showed is some cheap plastic one that I've never seen before. They are for learning the fundamentals of music, not a toy for little kids.

@kaselier11169 жыл бұрын
Only problem here is that melodicas aren't for children. Some can go up to $500 dollars because they are so professionally made. Many, Many, Many famous video game scores use melodicas and some orchestras even have them. That one you showed at the beginning, isn't really an accurate representation of a melodica. Iv'e never even seen one like it!
@SettimaLegione7 жыл бұрын
Strange, I see on Amazon they are priced about 50-60 $. Some also at 25-30 $ !!... A Yamaha model is about 110$, so probably is the most cheap instrument having a keyboard...

Kaselier I’m gonna be honest, I have to assume he did research on melodicas to make one so he either has a preconceived notion on melodicas being childish, or he’s playing up his creation to make it seem better. (Which is smart unless your talking to someone who’s ever typed “melodica” into google)

Hello 😄 could you make an all metal melodica with 3 octaves?

@@MelodicaWorld I want a wooden body, high quality accordion reeds, and perhaps the most peculiar thing I want is for the range to be from C3 - C6 instead of the typical F3 - F6. If there was anyway of possibly making bending even slightly more easy, I'd love that, too. It is fun to dream 🤣

I actually don’t like the melodica to look like an older instrument because…well it simply isn’t. Yeah the idea behind it may be old, but the melodica as we know it is a relatively recent invention. That being said, I am impressed with this project. Your melodica may not appeal to me, but i would be an idiot if I said your time and effort wasn’t reflected in the finished result. Good job

Beautiful job on your melodica. Did you print the reeds? It sounds great. I've been playing a fairly-nice Suzuki melodica with live bands for a while now, and yours sounds just as good as mine, if not better. To those complaining that he called the melodica a toy, check out some of his other videos. He's well aware of its capabilities, he's a great player. Not sure why he said that, but he certainly knows otherwise.
