3D Printed Pipboy 3000 MKIV with Raspberry Pi

Find out how to 3D print and build your own functional Pipboy 3000 using a Raspberry Pi and Adafruit 3.5" PiTFT. The pypboy python program for the Raspberry Pi features OSM for map data which allows you to browse your terrain rendered in glorious retro green graphics.
It features an audio amp + speaker with the actual score and background music from Fallout 4. An analog rotary switch lets you switch between different modes in the pypboy python program.
The 3D printed enclosure has cutouts for most of the IO ports for the Raspberry Pi, so you add your favorite peripheral like a WiFi dongle, keyboard and mouse.
The 2200mAh battery can be recharged over USB and fits inside an aesthetically looking cylindrical case.
Details like the super bright yellow LED, rotary encoder, speaker grill and faux gauges really make this look like a Pipboy 3000 Mark IV.

I'm in the process of building my own, all I need to do is solder and code! I'm also putting my rotary encoder as the vertical side knob for item selection, and I'm doing the code myself. It's going to be awesome! Edit: after i'm finished, I'm going to try and also implement an open source fitness tracker, to accurately display the health stats/hp.

It's actually possible to use a fotodiode to build a geiger counter, if you want it cheaper (but will be less precise, obviously)

I can't seem to get the pipboy image running properly on the SD card. I have tried several SD card formatters, but it will not boot up! Can you help?

The pipboy image only works with a Pi 2 (not 3). If you want to make it work on a Pi 3, you'd have to start with a fresh image and then install the pipboy python app.

If you read the tutorial I don't believe the little knob does anything. it isn't even connected. I'm wondering how you can manipulate the menus with only one knob. In the video it looks like he is using it but it's definitely no hooked up based on the tutorials.
