Hi, I watched this on my tablet. Your video is so cool I almost got frostbite from watching it. This took a lot of thought and talent to create. I am a retired RC modeler. I have been teetering on getting involved with 3D printing. Your video has pushed me over the edge! My wife is already sorry she let me watch this. LOL I have some questions. What printer are you using? What design software are you using? Where do you get filaments? I is it worth it to buy an extruder? Is there a shareware sight where I can buy designs? THANKS! Shalom/gw
@Kendin-Yap2 жыл бұрын
Thanks. 3d printers I use; Original prusa MK3S+ and Artillery Genius. I buy the filaments from a local dealer. It doesn't matter. There are many sellers. I shared a link for aircraft designs in the description area below the video. Piper Cub is free. Apart from that, there are many sites where you can get plane designs for 3D. Some... www.planeprint.com , www.eclipson-airplanes.com , www.3dlabprint.com

I love my 3d printer I can litteally 3d print any rc plane I want they looks very scale and beautiful and notade out of foam of any kind and fly beautifuly and no need to monokote or pin pieces of balsa wood to plans and glue pieces of balsa wood together and spend a few .months building an amazing plane that you got 1000 dollars into and then the esc desides to have a brown out of decides to go bad and boom beautiful balsa plane or store bought 600 dollar plus beautiful foam plane gone in seconds. That's why I love 3d printing my own planes they look beautiful fly like a true balsa plane with a little weight and fly way better then any store bought foam planes. And if I crash my 3d printed plane I can just print a new part in a hour or so or just print a whole new plane in about 24 hours for the cost of 10 cents or less in plastic

KendinYap great video, and thank you for sharing your 'skill'. Can you please explain why you choose to use diferent motor 2212 (recomended is 2830)? In 'coments' someone ask you if he can use 3s 1300mah battery, you say no, but in manual recomended battery is 3s 1300mah? I am guesing, but, this is why you must use 30g of 'ballast' to get a right cg.?
@Kendin-Yap2 жыл бұрын
Thanks.. The recommended 2830 is the same motor as the 2212 I am using. Why? :) Motor manufacturers use two different standards. Some brands use the outer body diameter of the motor, some brands use the inner rotor diameter. The value 22 is the rotor diameter inside. The value of 28 is the outer casing diameter of the motor. The outer body diameter of 2212 is also 28. Most of the big and high quality brands identify with rotor dimensions. The most accurate description is the rotor dimensions. The other is misleading. The technical values of the Emax XA2212 I use and the recommended motor are similar. Why I used 1000mah battery. The problem is not about weight. Dimensions are a problem.. The nose area of this model is very small. It is impractical for me to insert and remove the 1300mah battery.
@Neocro2 жыл бұрын
@@Kendin-Yap thank you for 'clearing' that out. Great. Thumb up ;) I really don't wanna to 'mess' with you, your choice, Emax XA2212 is the 'best' motor for Piper CUB? And in your 'raw' video of flight with Piper CUB your flight time was cca 4.30 min? That is max flight time on 1000mah 3s battery, or you just get bored ;) ?

Great build, just how did you print this, can you share your printer settings, and how do you print without stringing? Thanks
@polar19912 жыл бұрын
You can’t print lw-pla without stringing which is why all these 3D printed plane companies use as little travel as possible. He probably just used the g-code that comes with it. I’m going to start printing this tomorrow and the only change I’m making for the ended 3 pro is the retraction in the g-code.
@arrie19782 жыл бұрын
@@polar1991 I was able to get great results with PRUSA Slicer, worked much better than CURA, just one last question do you print this plane wall width with 0.4 or 0.8 wall width? 0.4 seems to thin for me.

Printed parts will be approximately 40% heavier. That's a little too much for a small plane. It does not prevent it from flying. But Stall speed will increase.
