Brilliant case! My thoughts on the printer... seems a bit of a hit or miss with some units, some customers like me have units where the Auto Bed Leveling is a nightmare! The probe is not consistent throughout the bed, resulting in a wrong mesh and terrible first layer
@sketchy12232 жыл бұрын
Yea, got the same problem on the standard S1
@scougarmagfedpaintball57332 жыл бұрын
Have you done up the screws on the back of the X-axis (gantry) ? These can come loose (especially from the factory :( ). You need to take the x axis off the machine to get to them. After that, re-install and adjust your eccentric wheels on the Z axis so they are just 'snug' (Not tight, just to the point movement is no longer present). After that, check that your bed isn't loose. This will mean having to unscrew the bed where the springs are, flipping the bed upside down and doing the same check on the eccentric nut. It's worthwhile ensuring that ALL other nuts and bolts on the printer are tight. Lastly, check the connection point for the probe itself is not loose that would result in bad measurements.
@scougarmagfedpaintball57332 жыл бұрын
Oh and ensure you are running the right G-Codes to ensure the mesh you made is actually loading :) (Note, this is my direct drive Ender 3 V2 with ABL and Jyers firmware btw, but these should work fine). G28 ; home all axes M420 S1 ; enable the mesh G29 L0 ; load mesh G29 A ; enables UBL G29 J ; tilt mesh G1 X20 Y20 Z0.2 F3000 ; get ready to prime G92 E0 ; reset extrusion distance G1 X160 E15 F600 ; prime nozzle G1 X180 F5000 ; quick wipe

@@scougarmagfedpaintball5733 Thanks for all the tips! I have since done the above and getting way better prints, however I have noticed how terribly warped my bed actually is. Trying to see if I can get a replacement hotbed that is flat.
@scougarmagfedpaintball57332 жыл бұрын
@@Skhulile84 You may find that the warp of your bed is affected by how tight the springs are on the bed. My system seems to have a 'sweet spot' where the warp is mostly gone. Just food for thought. If I am struggling with level, I back everything off and start again. (And the level will change when heated vs being cold btw). Apologies if I have mentioned anything you already know! If I can help people skip some of the pain I went through in learning, I try to 👍. Have a great day.

Love the vid, i never considered taking inspiration from existing full desktop cases for making a mini pi case, this does honestly look great! I'm tempted to get one printed, though maybe taking on the desktop approach with the fan on the back of the case where the usb and ethernet ports are located Overall, love the design and print!
@MichaelKlements2 жыл бұрын
There's something neat about having a really miniature version of a computer on my desk - I like it. The fan on the back of the case would also be good to get more visibility through the side of the case.

@@MichaelKlements It was my first and only 3D printer. Overall it was an easy setup. I had to make a tarp setup to cover the printer and added a small ceramic heater to get good quality products. However, the bed was warped and it was out by an mm or two that caused some issues. Also, after numerous attempts, I could not print with TPU. A good beginners model to learn on.

Wouldn't it be more optimal for the fan to place it right in front of the cooler grill?
@MichaelKlements Жыл бұрын
The Ice Tower cooler is so oversized for the Pi that it makes very little difference. As long as there is airflow through the case to remove the hot air, it is a very effective cooling solution.

could you position the fan in a place directly in line with the CPU cooler? with a little acryllic you could build a duct that directly blows into the CPU cooler. the difference in temperature should be minimal, but fan and cooler in line would look more orderly and clean IMHO

Because it would be right in the front of the case then and would block out most of the view into the case.
