My friend Christian 3D printed these RC Planes and set them up. First we flew the Messerschmitt B-109 which didn't end well, then we took up the MiG-15 90mm EDF and it flew amazing! I will definitly be 3D printing and flying my own RC Planes very soon so stay tuned !!

3D printing is definitely the way to go, yeah 3D printers can cost a few hundreds, but in the long run it's much cheaper. The same plane that costs $500 on Motion RC you could print and make for less than $150 with all of the components.

Re-watch 4:57 $30 airframe but $400 total and a weeks worth of printing time. PLUS $38 for the plans.

If you get a printer that costs a few hundreds your hobby is going to be your 3d printer, not rc planes.

I have tried them all, from dollar tree foam boards, to foam planes( EPP, EPS,EPO), balsa, and 3 d printed planes. The best remains balsa. In terms of durability and best flight characteristics, Balsa is the way to go.

@@Jays_rcgarage Yes it is the Fokker D1 and it is a blast to build. It's small so you have to think about which servos to use and obviously a small batter and motor. I built a few - couple of thin walled ones and some of the other larger ones. The durability is the issue. The planes flew quite well but never held up past 3-4 flights without some major structural issue showing related to the printing - just too may points of failure. At least for me, 3D printed planes aren't economical - I have hundreds of flights on some of my balsa and foam planes.

1:07 Two mistakes in one sentence: 1) in description there is no link to 3D files, but to an e-shop with 3D files, 😉 2) it's not even a link, but raw text, so clicking on it does not do anything (link would transfer user to somewhere else), batch of operations "select/copy/paste" must be used instead. 😉 But this or that, nice flights. 👍👏🙂

Developments in materials will only get better, 3D printed planes is the way to go. I maidened mine yesterday in less than perfect conditions fully expecting a crash due to the weight and brittleness (PLA) but it flew perfectly in every way.

What brand of PLA did you use, I have found them less than robust in even a small event.
@briancarbajal4927
@briancarbajal4927 10 ай бұрын
Try Hatchbox white or black. Ive always had super robust, highly usable parts when printing hatchbox. Even the pigments used for different filament colors have slightly different melting points, and can cause poor layer adhesion, brittle prints, etc. Sometimes you'll get duds straight out of the box from some places. Hatchbox has been the most consistent across their range of colors among the many brands I've tried.
