A slightly upgraded version of my wood lathe, with some fixes and new parts. Could be considered a "final" version of this design, its more polished than the previous versions.

My name is Chris, I am a 3D printing hobbyist from australia. I dont really specialise in anything specific, but 3D printed tools and tabletop accessories are some things youll probably seen quiet often. I do all my 3d printing on a Ender 3, which I highly recommend as a budget printer. Currently I only run 1 printer but I hope to expand that in the future. Recently acquired a photon 0 to do resin printing with. I like to share all my 3D printing ideas for free although I do plan to sell stuff in the future. Most of my projects will be mostly 3D printed with a few non printed components included, these can often be found on ebay. I actually use the cheapest filament I can get for all my projects, again I hope to change this in the future.

I would print the bearing holders in the strongest position for carrying the bearing, even if they'd need to be multiple parts for the head stock. Doing this would give you more rigidity aside from the fact that it would not eventually blow out from vibration.

I tried it but I found this orientation more ideal, the 4 rods in the headstock clamping through the board makes it rock solid, but printing in the other orientation I found these would split the headstock layers. That has been my experience anyways, next time I update parts ill add the headstock in pieces if people want to experiment with this

Hi, would you be able to please include an updated metal hardware parts list that includes the updated guard? The parts list on the build video I believe includes the 2 rods as a guard from the previous version. Also, what is the longest piece of wood the lathe can accommodate? I plan on building this soon. Thanks!

Saw your write up in Make - love it! I am actually printing one out for myself as we speak I did have to shorten the v bed a bit to make it lie flat on my printer (also a Creality 3) - printing it standing up made it topple over. I was wondering if this would make a good pen turning lathe - wondering if you had used any pen turning mandrels with this?

Hey, unfortunately I dont have a link for this setup since its off an old sewing machine and I havent found a place to buy them new and on their own. If you look around local listings they are generally pretty easy to find however, and I am also working on a setup that uses a generic motor but that wont be done for a bit.
