3D Scanning and Reverse Engineering Software

what I need is the step before this, When I scan a part with Faro 3d laser scanner its a mess, it scans the table the part is sitting on and points in space. How do you prevent or edit the point clouds to get rid of all the stuff you dont want? I need a video on that. In this video the point cloud already has been edited and looks great.
