I realised while editing this that there are probably a huge amount of technical questions surrounding the photogrammetry procedure, equipment, software etc. This was our first time doing this, so at the time of filming, I wasn't the right person to talk about it as an authority on the subject. But If it's of interest, I'll do a full tech video on the process once it's complete. Let me know & thanks for watching.

It's impressive! I laugh at the story of why the Morris 1000 Minor has the bump down the middle of the bonnet, apparently Sir Alex Issigonis drew out the body shape and the artists sculpted the car out of clay but when Sir Alex saw his design in 3D, he realised that it was to tall for it's width so he asked the artists to cut the car in half, pull it apart by 4 inches and fill in the gap. When he went back to see the clay buck, they'd finished the rear and roof but they'd just put a sheet of cardboard over the gap in the bonnet, Sir Alex liked the "bump" in the bonnet so much, it stayed for final production. I wonder what Sir Alex Issigonis would think about photogrammetry? He'd probably piss himself laughing! Especially at the incredible accuracy!

I'd be interested in it as well, i find it amazing how software can do such a good job of processing images. Makes me think of Tesla using normal cameras and not Lidar for their automated driving.

As a mechanical designer myself I’d really like to see the process behind putting the photogrammetry scan in CAD and designing pipes/tubes around that
@ericschumacher5189

Awesome work!!! I’m sure you are considering this in your collector design, but I figured I’d mention it if this detail hasn’t yet been solidified.....generally with a large number of cylinders going into a single collector, it’s Important that the tubes are put into the collector so the firing order is oriented RADIALLY, around the collector, and NOT jumping side to side.....this is better for flow and usually allows a smaller choke area, which correlates to a smaller megaphone max diameter, that could aid in better fitment under the hood.....I’m sure you have contacts lined up to produce the collector, but if not, Burns Stainess in the USA has a design service, that can help pick optimal tube sizes, where to put the steps in stepped headers, and collector dimensions........I’m excited to see how this turns out 👍

Thanks man. I've read lots of stuff about this myself. I'll definitely be asking lots of questions during the design phase, but honestly, the knowledge I've seen thus far from Celeritech is second to none.

We use photogrammetry in the games industry a lot, such a fun process :) Looks like they're using agisoft photoscan, I found reality capture had better results for me and it was faster processing too Still they are some amazing results for your first time! Trickiest bit is getting the camera settings right so I found it funny they hot glued the camera :D

Ahhh seeing this on my feed brought a massive smile to my face! You're an absolute legend Phil, love this project and love all your cars...incredible collection. I'd like to ask you, how do you feel about the S85 V10 itself? For me it's probably (despite the cult following and fanboys of which I am one!) the most underrated performance engine of all time because of the reliability scaremongering and because it's a BMW engine and not from a supercar manufacturer like Ferrari etc. It's the definition of exotic, sounds out of this world (really looking forward to how it sounds with your headers!) and how many can say their engine is legit F1 inspired? I currently have a one-off Eventuri all-carbon fibre plenum prototype paired with their carbon intakes on my S85 and it sounds absolutely incredible, totally recommend one when they're released for your build man! Keep smashing it mate 👍
@driftworks
@driftworks 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks man! I think it's a very special engine, especially as it & the 8 cylinder version are the last real M engines ever to be made. Eventuri do great stuff! I'm not sure I'll have any space for an airbox at all (definitely not a standard shape one), but it'd be nice to make one if I can.

Going super high tech for designing headers. I would've though just getting in there with some piping and flanges from the original manifolds would be the case for building them, but you def. are going for maximum flow and power. I want to see the E30 M3 track car fixed, Luv that car!
