Devon Couch freezing things even freeze drying them would alter the tissues and make it much more fragile than if it was fixed and preserved with chemicals. Especially if they were going to dissect it later, freezing tissues make them incredibly mushy and hard to distinguish in comparison to dehydrating and fixing with formaldehyde. When in a lab setting you're supposed to keep anything fixed in formaldehyde under a fume hood so you don't actually smell it that much.

In the 50s my brother Jim, made one out of clay for a science project in high school. I have no idea where he got the photos and idea for it. Thanks for reminding me of my younger years. I have no idea where it might have ended up.

I don’t know why I watched this because I have a phobia of animal skeletons and that anglerfish skeleton was the worst thing I’ve ever seen in my life, I actually gagged

so if i reply to your comment, and you got notification about this, and you opened the reply and saw the video again, would you gag again?

A very cool video. Then I think about how it would cost a normal citizen $5k in the US to have a CT scan done for medical purposes... But at least we now know what that wild looking fish ate.

The museum owns a CT, mine as well use it. Also US health prices are ridiculous. Prices range from $75 to 6k (I googled "ct scan cost" its the first result) For science!

@bennu5474 жыл бұрын
Yes now shut up. There’s a difference between health care and scientific research. You think all that equipment is free? You think the maintenance on the CT scanner is free? “Oh I can’t get a scan but the dead fish gets it for free!” Shut up. Scientific research has nothing to do with health care so why are you bitching about it? But go ahead thinking it’s the dead fish’s fault for your problem
