Very nice tutorial Lukas. I may comment that smoothing fills in the SI joint and facet joints which does help making it printable without falling apart but might over-segment the real bony anatomy.

Hey Adam, thanks a lot for your feedback! That is a very good point. I am already curious for the results of the upcoming studies to quantify those effects. Especially regarding the quantitative effects of smoothing parameters of different softwares on the geometric accuracy of the segmentation result.

Hi, unfortunately that is not possible at the moment, but i can recommend you to stay tuned for our upcoming research projects. It might be possible to contact the corresponding author for possibilities to share DICOM data sets of artifical test specimen.
