@Cuxito17 I used 2008 for a long time, trust me it's in there. It's not labeled as "Render Setup" but in the Render menu, I believe its one of the options toward the bottom. Render Window or something like that. Just look through your render menu.

Hello there! Just followed the steps you mentioned here! Lots of thanx!!! It really glows :D However... When I render, a window appears sayings there´s an error with the GBuffer which cannot support the Lens effect in transparency.... Now the question is: How can I get rid of this error message? Thanx!!!! Greetings from Mexico.

@FranFyrhart11 жыл бұрын
i assume this is the error you get: MSG 0.0 error: bitmap expected unsupported GBuffer channel "transparency" In that case, you have lens effects in the effects tab in the environment menu of rendering. Lens effects isn't supposed to work with mental ray so delete that.

ok so I di dall the steps in the video but when i hit render i keep getting a box that says " The following render effects are not compatible with the bitmap format selected for rendering. The selected bitmap format is: RGBA color 32 bits/channel. Lens Effects." how do I fix that?
@DarthKamci011 жыл бұрын
I don't know if it's because I'm using it on a flat surface, not on a 3d model, but for some reason I can't obtain the glow effect. The result is usually a single-color texture with no glow whatsoever. Also, I do not have "glow lume" option (the one you did for mental ray material), only plain "glow". I am using the 2013 version. I would appreciate your help :)

That's what one of my instructors in college did... and depending on your school, your teacher could be treading on some sensitive legal boundaries there. If you're paying a tuition, I'd definitely talk to someone about it.

Glow doesn't show when I export as .FBX, what should I do?
@presbarkeep5 жыл бұрын
The glow effects are only applied in the rendered frame window in 3ds Max. If exporting the model/scene as .fbx, you would need to add the glow effect into whatever program you're importing it into, which this video does not show. This video only shows a couple ways how to add glow effects onto an object in 3ds Max 2009.

Go to the main menu and choose: Rendering > Render Setup > Renderer tab > Sampling Quality > Frame Buffer Type. From the Frame Buffer Type drop down, choose: Integer (16 bits per channel). You should now be able to render Lens Effects Glows in Mental Ray mode.

Whenever I do the glow effect in mr in 3ds max, the glow doesn't fade smoothly getting fainter and fainter like the one in this video. It cuts off suddenly, making it look terrible and not like a glow very much. Does anyone know how to fix this? Is anyone else even experiencing this problem?
