T H, Thanks for the very nice compliment. It is appreciated. Check out my latest tutorial on the use of matrices for modeling a scissor mechanism. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mom2fq18fLeaasU

This works great on on X view axis, but when changed to X local it doesn't work as well. How would you fix that? the dummy at the end should stay at the end of the beams if within the telescoping area... but when you rotate the base and then move, the dummy moves off because it isn't reading the local. How do you fix it?

@timCGI, you are corrrect that the rig does not behave as it should when the end dummy is moved off the x axis. This was a surprise to me! Thank you for pointing this out. I have created a new approach for rigging a telescoping beam but do not have time right now to create a tutorial for it. I look to do that soon and will reply t yoour comment when it is avaialble.

@@LeeMinardi Thanks, I look forward to seeing your solution. I found a different way to do it by hacking a couple of other ideas, but I look forward to seeing how you would solve it.

@@LeeMinardi This is a great tutorial and I appreciate all the tutorials you do but I have the same request. This rig is great but if you're not animating the dummy objects in the rig directly it doesn't work or if you need to move the rig to another location it doesn't work anymore. Most of the time you'll need to rig the cylinders and let other objects drive the motion like a knuckle boom on a crane. I'd like to anchor the Base Dummy to an object and anchor the top dummy to another and let the objects drive the cylinder motion.

@LeeMinardi5 жыл бұрын
Do you mean the flight simulator type hexapod en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stewart_platform#Hexapod or a hexapod robot?

In response to your suggestion I have created the following tutorial on rigging a hexapod. I hope it is the type of hexapod you were thinking of! kzbin.info/www/bejne/g4SUeomlZrZ1bZo
