Edited Opinion (original below) I like this a little more than the original too. I didn't initially, but it has grown on me drastically. It's more funky and upbeat than the original, but it still maintains its sentimentality, and I think it fits the 8 Deluxe track so well. It’s different for sure. I think the original suits the track more, but I like this one a lot too. It’s more electronic than the original version, but it still holds some of the sentimental value, still think the MK7 melts my heart much more though.

I can’t speak for Mario Strikers and Switch Sports as i never had any interest in those. As opposed to last year where i only bought Valheim and Metroid Dread.

The worst possible power-up to get in this track is a star because it arbitrarily cuts out this masterpiece, especially from 1:10-1:42. And you have to love how at 1:10 they still incorporate the Mario Kart 64 Rainbow Road/Double Dash theme here with how it also captures that sense of "finale". Now, as for all the other rainbow roads; SNES- most blocky, 64: most nostalgic, Super Circuit: most energetic, Double Dash: most exciting, DS: most fun gimmick, Wii: most magical, 8: most futuristic. But 7: ... the most emotional (I just cannot stress enough how I can't drive on this track without getting tears in my eyes, and I love it).

In my humble opinion, 3DS Rainbow Road is the single best course in the entire game. Maybe even in the entire series in general, but to be far, I hadn't played all the MK games yet. But still. No course has ever given me more or a magical feeling than this course. It's fun, creative, and just magical. I wouldn't mind if this course was the last course of the booster course pass. Dare I say, it might have better to put this as the final course than Wii Rainbow Road (that course is still a banger, tho). I can't of a better course than this one. Easiest S-Tier of my life, and my pick for the best course in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

The original 3DS Rainbow Road theme from MK7 is much more emotional in my opinion, which I know is one reason everyone loves it (including myself), but I for one also really love and appreciate the electronic head-bopper that this remake is, because for once I can play through the track without tearing up...I can finally actually focus on the race! And this remake always gets me groovin' no matter how many times I listen to it. So yeah, both the original and this remake are amazing in their own ways in my opinion. 3DS RR is also my all-time favorite Rainbow Road track (no I am not nostalgia-blinded because I didn't get to play MK7 at all until the 3DS was basically dead, but the eshop closure hadn't been announced yet...that period of time...I literally got my (physical) copies of 7 and 8 Deluxe at the same time, and at the same store, true story), so back when Wave 3 was announced and I saw this track in the trailer, I legit cried from joy that it was being brought back. I'm so glad they ended both the first half of the BCP and the finale of the BCP with amazing Rainbow Road tracks!

This is it. The best track in MarioKart. They improved on the Mario Kart 7 version enough to where I can safely, SAFELY say this is my favorite MarioKart track. No other track is close in how much I feel, and for video games, I want to feel something. 3DS Rainbow Road is the track in all of MarioKart that has made me feel the most, and honestly, it isn’t close. To me there’s a difference between the words Best and Favorite in this case. SNES Rainbow Road is the best because it has lots of speedrun potential and things can get pretty tight by the end of the race. But 3DS Rainbow Road is my favorite because it has great music, a nice track layout that takes you to the moon, and what I think defines a Rainbow Road track, the feeling of it being a send off to a Mario Kart Game. I’m so glad that Nintendo decided to bring this one back.
