3G Eclipse Turbo 20-130 mph Pull @ 15 psi

Merging onto the Autobahn in my 2003 Eclipse Turbo with a completely stock 4G64 long block. The on-ramp is admittedly long and starts out downhill, but the second half of it is uphill. I had to make a new video to show everyone what the car pulls like at 15ish psi.

Keep in mind that getting the v6 gives you a couple affordable engine swap options: the 6g74 and the 6g75. A 6g74 swap can run you under $1000 easy if you do it smart, and you can do a 6g75 swap for in the ballpark of 2k. I'm currently driving an 03 GT manual with the 6g75 swap and the difference is amazing. They make around 250whp which is a huge jump. Just food for thought if you wanted optimum reliability by staying n/a.

Completely up to you man. The 4 cylinders are arguably easier/cheaper to turbo, but the V6 sounds more beastly. They're both good for about the same amount of power once the turbo's on, but they 4-cyl will give you better gas mileage

@300zxMaster1 Thanks man. Yeah I've thought of it. I think I might actually go with a full Evo motor swap eventually; the 4G63 block has repeatedly shown its potential in the Evo community and comes factory with oil squirters. I may also swap in a 4G64 100mm crank to make it a 2.3L stroker

A tough question to answer, the current condition of the engine will depend entirely on how well the previous owner maintained it and what oil was used. You could do a dry compression test for starters to get a general feel for the condition of the engine and whether it'd be safe to boost. Regardless, a good tune is the key to a successful turbo build, so make sure you use a tuning device that can alter the ignition map and pull timing based on the knock sensor

@300zxMaster1 correct. The intake manifold and throttle body are typically the first bottleneck because they can't flow very well. After that, the rods are good for about 340 wtq before you have to start worrying

I've owned both and I'll say this if your strictly tracking a car yes 2g hands down, preferably the GSX but if your looking to do what this guy did daily drive + tunig 3g hands down because of the upgraded interior options plus the fact that it feels like a newer car opposed to the 2g. I love em both equally but the 6g72 is much more reliable vs the 4g63 if you ask me not to mention the stock 3g Gt beats any stock 2g any day of the week

@EclipseGTFan They changed the gauge cluster for the 2003-05 model years, and I also installed blue LEDs behind it. You can probably buy the gauge cluster online and it'd probably be plug-n-play

Depends, do you have a V6 or I4? My build was a little more pricey because it was custom fabbed, so I ended up spending around $5k. You can easily turbocharge a four-banger for under $1k if you're frugal enough. Turbocharging a V6 is a little more complicated. Not sure what used supercharger kits are selling for but I would assume you could supercharge either the 4 or the 6 for around 2.5k

tim taylor It's not really about PSI, it's about airflow. For the V6, you'll have better luck running a big turbo at a low psi than a small turbo at a high psi. You want a turbo that flows well and keeps things cool. The V6 pistons/rods can't take much abuse above the ~300whp mark

No idea, but somewhere between $5-6k. You can definitely get boosted for much cheaper using a DSM manifold and cheaper parts instead of having a custom manifold made

@300zxMaster1 The stock motor is good for pretty much as much boost as you want to throw at it, but you begin to exceed the flow capabilities of the intake manifold/throttle body around that much boost. This of course depends also on the size of the turbo used

@MrBingping Never been to a twisty track, although I've definitely considered going. The car wasn't really designed for corners. Big turbos aren't conducive to good corner-exiting acceleration. It handles pretty decent with the coilovers and 255 tires, but it definitely needs some better brakes before doing any road racing. I have a set of Evo Brembos that I plan on installing in the near future

Swapping out the lights is easy....they have a guide on club3g...mine are all red including the lights in the rear view stereo and a/c ....just be careful with the back of the gauge cluster and I'll b ok....if ur to scared don't even try it....

@EnvyMeGkB definitely the 4. a stock 6 and a stock 4 are good for about the same amount of power, but the 6 will probably be more expensive. a built 4 with forged rods and pistons and an evo 8 head will get you way farther than anyone has ever pushed the v6, and for a lot less

I honestly don't know, there hasn't been anybody making big numbers on the automatics. Most guys swap to manual because it's easier to tune and the manuals are stronger

Take of the dash and you can change the dashlight bulbs to blue leds

My turbo is a precision SC61. It is possible to use the original ECU but you must reflash it with ECUFlash / EvoScan
