Tim Ho Wan is very ex in Singapore though. Agreed their lotus leaf rice is nice. Victor's Kitchen is very expensive too only tried it once many years ago...hmmm feel it's too for a kinda coffeeshop setting. Imperial Treasure Kitchen used to be our family's go to dim sum restaurant. Personally find their dim sum items very good and their porridge is simply awesome. Too bad after their outlet closed in Tampines few years ago I haven't eaten them in other outlets 😆yes still prefer teapot version...feels more traditional. There are restaurants that serves tea in tea pot.

Ms Karman. In Jalan Besar (near my house), there are 3 popular dim sum shops. (Swee Choon Tim Sum - super popular with youngsters, but their siew mai is not so tasty. The rest is ok). The 2nd is: Sum Dim Sum. The 3rd is: Dim Sum Haus. Another one at North Bridge Rd *(also within walking distance from my house) : The Dim Sum Place which is halal. Their siew mai is quite tasty. The vicinity of my house filled with eateries & I could eat supper late at night really reminds me of being in Hong Kong (TST, Jordan, YMT & Mong Kok).

Haven't been to East Bistro b4. Will go try. Thanks for recommendation. As for 茶水，I figure its becos water is not cheap in SG since we need to "import" from Msia and the treatment process done in SG (tap water can drink at home if boiled water really really not enough)

Definitely recommend East Bistro especially for its signature dishes like pao fan, claypot rice, etc. not only dim sum. Oh right, the water is imported

Victor 同佢嘅老婆好多年前已經移居新加坡.佢哋來自香港。好多年前,我從新聞文章中睇到關於 Victor's Kitchen at Sunshine Plaza. 因為去嗰度靠近我嘅屋企, 我行到嗰度, 幫襯, 食點心。那時候,他的點心比較傳統. 因為佢自己準備同烹飪. 嗰段時間都好受歡迎. 目前可能將佢嘅品牌賣給了一家公司。因為從餐牌或通知中,它屬於一個組。 而家我喺佢嘅 Chinatown Point 分店食，都仲唔错.

Hong Kong Mongkok Tim Sum (香港旺角点心), Chinatown Complex.你可以嘗試喺嗰度食.攤位家族來自香港。點心非常受歡迎同傳統. Very long queue & must take a queue number. But the atmosphere is very hot. Another way is to take your food to a cooler place/table to eat.

@@MsKarman their baos quite nice fluffy and filling generous but I think maybe a bit sweet. I usually just dabao the baos. Overall decent dim sum items I guess for $3 a basket now. But need to wait for your number then can order/pick up😂

Victor kitchen too cramp...not conducive to eat there especially during the current covid situation. Have tried your recommended restaurant at the kallang wave. Food good n cheap. Hv recommended it to my frens, all said 👍

如果你返香港, 可以食 One Dim Sum 一點心 (Prince Edward - 太子). Dim Dim Sum 點點心 at 佐敦 ,旺角, 灣仔. YUM CHA (Central or TST).最後一個, Yum Cha is expensive but 點心造型得意. S'pore has a similar one called: Social Place S'pore (Forum The Shopping Mall - Orchard Road). Like the Yum Cha in HK, this is expensive but 好 得意, Nice place to take photos.Bring Little K there, she should like it.

相信新加坡而家變咗好多，新來的香港人應該更加容易適應！ 不過想吃香港野食就好貴啦！ 當同香港一比較價錢，就不能每天飲茶吃點心，在新加坡是很奢侈的事！香港老人家來住就好唔慣，佢哋慣咗日日飲茶吃點心（因為香港點心下午茶平靚正）。 其實掉返轉諗， 住HDB 平左，慳返D供樓利息都夠用來飲茶🤣🤣🤣

For Lei Garden, I used to eat dim sum lunch at Chijmes. Many years ago, I sat beside a HK family in a plane from the same tour group going to Korea. The man said he was a chef from Lei Garden Chijmes. The air hostess accidentally spilled some water on him. 佢非常嬲，佢話佢要Port佢。After a while, I realised 'Port' meant to report on her. 好好笑. 但佢嘅英文好差。佢要求我幫助佢同佢嘅家人填寫抵達表格。

Lavender 既添記，係最差既。给我的茶杯，端來已浮上一層油。即係冇用熱水洗凈上手既油。 叫佢處理，只把温水倒了，又注入新水。的油依舊在，照送來，死不肯換隻清潔杯。倒胃！ 虾米腸粉，用筷子都夾不起，軟到似落足糯米加水，我们幾個香港人，真係第一次筷子功面对挑戰。Black listed.

Don't go Tim ho wan.. not worth the $$, victor kitchen at china town branch less people and more quiet. haven tried east bistro.. Spore oldest tim sum rest , you should try Red star ! really got the Cantonese environment feel

Hi Karman, have you tried the dim sum at Red Star (红星) restaurant in Singapore? What’s your verdict from an Hong Konger’s point of view? If you have not try, do find time to do so ☺️ It’s perhaps the oldest/only/last few that still operates primarily by push carts - order items by the card and tea by the pot (refillable!)☺️ 54 Chin Swee Toad, #07-23, S160054

I tried Red Star before, very traditional especially with those carts serving dim sum. For me, I feel like the dim sum there is a bit localized, more deep fried options, which are not that common in HK restaurants. We’ve more steamed ones.
