IMO, Season 4 is still pretty good, but it also marks the point where the bad episodes start to get more noticeable. Not every single episode of SpongeBob was a home run, some were absolutely weaker than others. But I dunno if I'd call any of them outright "bad". Season 4 has good episodes, great episodes, and even a couple I consider classics, worthy of being aligned with the "Golden Age" of SpongeBob. But it also has the series' first "bad" episodes, IMO. Not just weaker, but tangibly bad. Truth be told, no single season has nothing of value to be found in it. But there's also a pretty hard drop-off point in a few seasons that the show never really recovers from. Stephen Hillenburg actually DID return after the 2nd movie to work on the series again, and by all accounts the show had a return to form until ALS claimed his life.

S1 Iconic, S2 Great if third season didn't exist this would be the best, S3 Golden Age GODLIKE, S4 Good/Great (depends but overall fair amount better than what comes after), S5......OK ig, then after all seasons are low tier ngl with good/great episodes here and there sprinkled throughout them all from 6-10 (S11, S12 honestly HOT GARBAGE worse than 6-8 overall honestly) Interestingly enough I have heard good things about the newest season S13, from what I heard its aright but compared to the modern SpongeBob its good which is nice to hear that it got better even if not much so
