I don’t know, I’m rewatching season 4 and I’m just not laughing at any of the episodes some episodes were pretty ok and others were just boring or just not funny in the slightest except a few moments here and there, it’s like season 4 just doesn’t have the timing or set up to it’s jokes like Seasons 1-3 had except Krusty Towers/Mrs Puff your fired, which to me is the only episodes in this seasons that felt like they could’ve been in Season 3 IMO. Season 4 is still worth a watch the first time around watching show but for me I pick out the best episodes of Season 4 and leave the rest, the later seasons however are definitely NOT worth your time watching at all.

I was really expecting to be some files, documents, or papers contained within the briefcase Mr. Krabs' attorney was holding right before the case involving Plankton slipping onto the floor of the Krusty Krab where that one customer gave out an idea to sue Mr. Krabs for everything he has, involving the recipe for the Krabby Patty occurred in the episode. I was not expecting a Krabby Patty to be inside of the briefcase.

It’s not as good as the other great legal shows out there like Daredevil and Better Call Saul. But, it’s still pretty good for an episode about a cartoon character becoming a lawyer.

The first bad S4 episode is probably Good Neighbors which is coming up in a couple eps. But this season has so many bangers it's hard to call it a decline. Have you seen this dnail is next and is a good example of the show still holding on to it's former greatness. But even as a S4 defender, it has a couple more bad episodes than any season previously and hence is the start of the decline, which only becomes more evident from S5 to S9 when the show becomes good again. The reason that S4 is used as a starting point is because the creator Stephen Hillenburg (RIP) wasn't directly involved with the show and the characters became flanderized, the humor also became more visual than about clever writing.

I understand that, there’s new writers involved in the writing but it’s not as meanspirited and dumb in season 4 as with other later seasons. Alot of these season 4 episodes still feature some writing of original SpongeBob writers, which is why it’s feels almost like the other 3 seasons.

These are great episodes but I do agree that there’s something that are missing with post-movies episodes, like the lack of visuals gags, the animation seem simplistic, background are less detailed. Did they change the animation software? I know with season 2-3, they changed to digitally animation but they still drew on paper and scanned them to the computer. The background were still hand painted and scanned. Did they stop doing hand painted backgrounds for season 4?

Also a lot of the writing in the later seasons after the movie felt too random and like it tried too hard to explain things at the same time. In a way that juat didn't work. Idk how else to put it. I prefer how seasons 1 and 3 would acknowledge it was being stupid and go ham with it.
