What’s really messed up is not only did De La Cruz poison Hector but he used his death as inspiration for a scene for one of his movies later and even used the villain of that movie use the same, “Move to heaven and Earth,” line. Just imagine having that kind of audacity!

@@gremmythoumeaux2393 Yeah that part was messed up what Ernesto did to Hector by poisoning the drink and Miguel somehow was able to connect the dots when Hector brought up about how Ernesto would "Move Heaven and Earth" and Miguel realize that this was the same quote Don Hidalgo said in "El Camino A Casa" when he poisoned the drink.

fun fact: if you rewatch the movie knowing the fact that Dante is a spirit guide its almost comical how many times he's the reason the story progresses. And most of the scenes it seems like he's just being silly and dumb for comedy. the fact that you remember a famous painter, Frida Kahlo, for "that one painting of her" when she made dozens if not hundreds of paintings of herself. Jason almost said it but Hector still LEFT the family. In the end, he regretted it and wanted to go home, but that's still several months to several years of having to be a single mother to a toddler. She is ok to be angry with him for leaving her to chase his dream while she stays home raising their daughter and giving up on her own dreams. Hector explained it during the first final death but you have to have known them while they were alive, and sharing stories of them while they were alive keeps those memories alive. If Miguel went back but didn't remind Coco it wouldn't work since he has no memories of living Hector. Coco and her family passing down the stories of Hector playing the guitar for her and her mother will keep him alive until eventually the family tree is too long for his generation or the bloodline dies out entirely. The photo wouldn't keep Hector alive, but he also wanted to cross over the bridge to see his daughter and the rest of his family. Without Hector's photo he would still be completely excluded from crossing the bridge, even if he's remembered and his wife forgives him. If it wasn't obvious Coco was suffering from dementia (or something similar), and the memory of her father was the last thing she was holding onto. After hearing the song more of her memories returned, including the identity of her daughter.

it is sad to see Cocos brain deteriorate because of old age but the fact that she held Papa in her brain as long as she could, and she almost lost everything then Miguel saved it by singing remember me. I still question is its elder abuse if you do what Miguels mom did by letting coco forget everything and leaving her alone in her room.

Coco is without a doubt one of my Top five favorite Pixar films and as both my family and myself are of Mexican descent, the film really connected with me as we learned about the importance of "La Familia", Día de Los Muertos and the Ofrendas (which my family and I did set up one on Día de Los Muertos 2-3 years after this film). I also got emotional and cried when I listen to Miguel and Héctor's version of "Remember Me" especially the former when he sang It to Mamá Coco, because my Grandmother, my Great Aunt and my Grandfather passed away and I greatly miss them very much, deep down they aren't forgotten as I still remember them, even their passing brought in a whole new level when I listen to "Remember Me". 🇲🇽🇲🇽 Lastly, I happen to enjoy the Latin Spanish dub of the film and I say it's equally as good if not better than the original English version.💀💀🌼🏵🪅 Not to mention _Coco_ now stands as the Highest Grossing US film In Mexico surpassing the Avengers.

Miguel already had the song memorzied. Everyone knew the song remember me from De Le Cruz, and could have sang it in front of Coco and she probably heard it before loads of times. it wouldn't have done anything for her memory because it wasn't the song itself, it was the way the song was sung that did it. Miguel had to sing it in the same way Hector sang it to her for it to trigger anything.

As a person who’s Mexican who lives in the U.S, this film really makes me miss my family in Mexico. Im the US it’s just me and my mom and brother but as the movie portrays usually we have a big family that all live in one property. I miss having that big family feeling and having my grandmas cooking and since our family is from Mexico City I miss that sort of like lights everywhere and beautiful colors and all the food It definitely makes me cry from nostalgia lol it’s a beautiful representation of Mexican culture Also note: you gotta understand where mama Imelda was coming from. It is a little bit Hectors fault. Yes Ernesto murdered him when he was about to come back home but remember. He made the decision to leave in the first place. Imelda said she wanted to settle down and take care of her family but hector wanted to tour the world. Which is fine but he made the decision to leave his family in the first place. He even said that it had been months before he started to feel homesick and made the decision to come back home.

1:02:35 I think this ending is simultaneously beautiful, and disturbingly heartbreaking for another reason. It warms my heart to see this family of 3 reunited, but it f’d with my heart to see them like this, because they all died at different ages. Shot in the dark, but Imelda looks like she passed in her mid/late 60s, while Hector died as a young parent in his early/mid 30s, and then Coco seemed to have lived for nearly a century. Of course they share their old dynamic, but it’s so sad to look at them now and think of all the blossoming moments of fatherhood with Coco that Hector was robbed of by Ernesto. Imelda likely died a bitter woman, and she spent several decades raising Coco as a single mother, through the 1930s~60s. Coco outlived her parents by so much, and with her white hair she could pass for THEIR mother by now 🥺😭. Fuck Ernesto

the part that hit me with this movie the most was Coco in almost every detail of her face, looked just like my great grandmother did, in her late years, I always wish I could have ask her more questions and learned more of her past. She lived to 103 and and had her own cookie recipe that she held on to in memory that so far we can only imitate a close resemblance of.

The whole film is set ion edemuertos, an entirely holiday dedicated to paying tribute to and remembering those who we lost. However "Coco" acknowledged that It's an unavoidable reality that all ages can learn about, in facts understanding the concepts may just help they accept when it eventually come and not only that, the flim makes it clear that while death is difficult, our memories of the deceased matter are a great deal and we should hold on to them.

With Mexican families that live in a communal home, it's common for there to be a matriarch that they follow closely. This role usually goes to the eldest, healthiest property owner, which is typically a grandmother as they would have been living on this property for generations. It can be extremely divisive to go against what the matriarch wants and can lead to rifts in families. This is a family trait sometimes still observed today but is starting to disappear as people immigrate to the U.S. and newer generations adopt U.S. family standards and in Mexico, and I'm sure other Latin countries, as newer generations start to break cycles of generational trauma.

Tbh tho living in the US sometimes I *am* jealous of how close Mexican families are, like in the US if there's some performance from a child your immediate family will go (mom, dad, siblings) and *maybe* some aunts and uncles if you happen to be close or grandparent if they live close or are visiting.. but Mexican families will have parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, great aunts, great uncles all show up and support the kid like they were all the parent

That´s the real meaning of the day of the death in our mexican culture, the cempasuchil leaves are used to create a path for them to visit us on Nov. 1st and Nov, 2nd and the most important: the photos of our love ones in the altar

Miguel remembering Hector wouldn't work. Hector even says it in the one scene. They have to be remembered play someone who knew them in life and their stories have to be passed down. Miguel knew him in death he never met him in life. That's why he had to get Coco to remember and pass down her father's story to the rest of the family. That's the only way it would work

Another day of the dead movie you guys gotta watch is 2014’s The Book Of Life! It may not be so popular as Coco but it’s still such a good movie! And fun fact! The creator of The Book Of Life also created a Nickelodeon show back in 2007 called El Tigre The Adventures Of Manny Rivera, which is a superhero comedy show. Give that show a watch too cuz it’s so funny yet filled with some pretty good action fighting scenes. Sadly it only got one season, but still! Please give The Book Of Life and El Tigre a watch! 😄

Plus, I heard that they were also making a cocoa too, but we haven’t even seen a teaser trailer. It was supposed to come out like after. Three years ago, but now it’s like 2024 and it should come out hopefully I’m still hopefully Waiting for the next one and I’m hoping the next one is way better than this one and also, I haven’t cut up on a lot of the videos, but I am pretty much caught up after like one more video and also, you should think about taking some of my other suggestions to like Winney the Pooh and tigger tooo and also like other ones I’ve mentioned like including Ozzie, Oogie, love, and the big balloon adventure, and The book of Pooh Stories from the heart is another good one too and even some of the other ones that I probably forgot about and I definitely remember them making the Shira and the video DD doodle works I think that’s what it was called but anyway that’s like beyond the point too
