Ironically enough, I didn't realize he did stand-up until a couple of months ago when I started binge watching old episodes of Madtv. There was an episode he was on where Phil Lamarr introduced him and he did his stand-up act. Before that, the earliest thing I remember him hearing him in was when he voiced Heffer and several other characters from Rocko's Modern Life.

The problem was simple and so was the solution. SpongeBob ragged on Sandy and only Sandy which made it feel more personal and that he believed his words were true. This made everyone buy into it sincerely. The solution was to rib everybody so no one was singled out or would take his words seriously.

Had a teacher in high school who cracked jokes on everybody and anybody and always roasted himself too, but he always said that if your feelings were hurt, he would apologize and listen to you. That’s the way to do it, at least for a teacher anyway. One time he talked about how childhood obesity is running wild, but he looked at himself and said “I guess I’m not really the guy to talk to y’all about obesity am I?”

Seems like a ton of reactors don't get why Man Ray kept laughing - It's classical conditioning. It's like Pavlov's Dogs, if you do one thing and have a second stimulus over a long period of time, such as ringing a bell and giving a treat, the dog would associate the bell with the treat so when it hears the sound it'd start drooling as it anticipates the food. So with Man Ray he subconsciously associated doing bad with the feeling of being tickled (because Spongebob did it so often and consistently), so anytime he tries doing bad he'll feel the tickle regardless.

Sandy's plan was really smart: she was mad at Spongebob for insulting her kind with baseless accusations which are all false that squirrels are dirty and dumb country bumpkin, but then she thought about what would be if his jokes would be on real facts. As an aspiring comedian, it actually is kinda scary to perform. Especially when a joke doesn't land. And SpongeBob is in the wrong. Sandy was even letting him know that people were disrespecting her because fhose jokes gave tacit permission and justified stereotypes. Bo Burnham literally has a bit about this. Where he says that doing the chinese accent to get a laugh just made it more acceptable to apply the stereotype outside of that context.

Yep, this accurately shows the downside to “Comedy”: The average mind is often too impressionable to think for itself. A person often only perceives things the way another tells them it is, and eventually spreads out to other short-sighted people.
