This movie does so many things right. The characters, their development, the fight choreography, the lessons, how well it depicts ancient China, it's all so great. One part I really like, and often see overlooked, is how after Po lays out his insecurities to Shifu, we see that Tigress heard the whole thing and finally started to soften up and feel sorry for him, and realized he was actually taking Kung Fu seriously, not "treating it like a joke" as she previously stated.
@Spongebrain9710 ай бұрын
I read a long time ago that the Chinese were initially skeptical of how this film would turn out and were blown away at how good it was. And so Chinese producers participated in part 2 and 3

I love how it seemed like Po was only treating the whole 'Dragon Warrior' thing as a joke at first, only for him to show that he was serious about it and _wanted_ to learn Kung Fu the whole time, but he was too self-deprecating that he never saw himself as someone able to do what the Five are capable of doing.

A film about a fat panda doing kung fu sounds like potentially the dumbest thing ever. But the excellent characters, excellent humor, and a wonderful message turn it into something great! The message about working with your best qualities to fulfill your destiny is so well realized, with the training sequences that help fully embrace that. Seriously, this franchise is way better than it has any right to be.

Ti Lung trying to fight Po is like punching rubber, the one thing that was telegraphed to us about Po since the day he entered the Palace is that he can take punishment because his chubby constitution allows him to absorb blows that cripple others like the Prison guards, furious 5 or master Shi fu paired with his indomitable perseverance He's Ti Lung's counter because no matter how hard he can inflict damage Po can Take it and literally bounce back and even redirect that energy back onto his opponents, Ti Lung is all about overwhelming his opponent with brute force which is why his fight with Po seems so comical right after his fight with Shi fu was so serious It's because Ti Lung's brute strength just isn't working against Po and after a little while it becomes clear that he can't beat him since thats all he has
@rickyronny401910 ай бұрын
Yes! You perfectly explained the advantage Po has over Tai Lung and why he was able to defeat him. People coping and crying saying Po won cuz of “plot armor” but that’s just not true

@@rickyronny4019and also Po fighting style is more like chaotic-mess than a typical Kung Fu method. Tai Lung beat the Fives because he already surpassed them with moves, countermove and stuff, but he struggled against Po because Po didn’t use typical Kung Fu he just think outside the box and annoyed Tai Lung to no end 😂😂😂

Tai Lung was trained from BIRTH in the art of kung fu, years of his life all the way up until he went to prison was he told by shifu that he’ll eventually be the dragon warrior, getting praised by him, training day in and day out and one day when he thinks he did enough work and he’ll be chosen, they tell him no. they told him it wasn’t his destiny when he worked too hard for it not to be ofc he’d run rampant through the village

Even in the animated series "Legends of Awesomeness" Po learns a very rare move, the golden lotus clap, from seeing it once. His a nerd and studies hard, allowing him to perfect a move pretty quickly when left to his own devices.

A friend of mine had a theory that Oogway died a while ago and was using all of his strength just to stick around long enough to settle his affairs so to speak. That’s the real reason why he decided he had to pick the dragon warrior when he did. Which was in fact what set in motion Tai Lung’s return, “one often meets his destiny on the road he takes to avoid it.” And when Shifu said he would try to believe in Po, that was the last thing Oogway needed to hear before he could leave.
