Well done, Sir You're a man that pays attention to detail. I'll be following your example. Thank you!

The best demonstration on utube on how this kit should be used!!! The only thing I would change is not masking twice!! Leave the tape in place to the end!! I don't clean the headlights first as the surface is going tobe removed anyway!! Anyways you did a brilliant restoration welldone, I just wish more people would follow your example and do it properly, The Trizact pad makes all the difference along with Meguiars which will do at least another two sets of headlights!!!😃🤔😎👍🇬🇧

If you liked his presentation you should look at The Headlight Restoration Pro KZbin channel. He uses this 3M kit and has over 100 videos showing his methods. He adds 3D or Chemical guys headlight restoration cream to the compound and uses a AC Delco polisher and they always come out crystal clear.

@@MichaelBlast I've been following the Boss (Pro) for years!! I think it's a coincidence that the pro useing the same method as 3m and sanding disk, He's always refining and improving!! When you consider it's only 3 sanding steps, There's utubers useing 3 times that?? 🤔🇬🇧👍

Wow, I ordered the same exact product from 3M, for my vehicle as well. I have a 2012 lexus gx 460 that my son uses while in college. It's a really beautiful pearl White metallic, but the headlights have a cloudy dingy appearance that really let's it down. I can't wait to try this. Man, those headlights look amazing. Thanks for placing your video on KZbin.

Very helpful. I seem to have lost my instructions. Your video will guide me through the process. Well done.

Nicely done. R day to tackle the wife’s headlights with existing kit used about five years ago for a vw headlight. Very helpful as I’d lost directions.

Just an FYI the 3m website says those Trizac 3000 pads re mant to remove 1500-2000 grit scratches..so youll want to add that step between the 800 and the 3000 for actually removing andleveling the 800 for an everln crisper headlight restoration
@keithroberts56115 ай бұрын
What do you mean?? The 3m kit as 3steps only!! The Trizact p3000 is a combination of a polisher and sander in one!! 🤔

Drink a shot every time he's "gonna go ahead and"! I kid. I appreciate the video! Bought the same kit and wanted to watch a few demonstrations before I proceeded.

My drill only runs at 600 rpm. Do you think that makes a difference with this 3M kit?

Latest kit (Oct 2023) got rid of the compound and pad and added a clearcoat step at the end.

The polycarbonate lenses needs tobe hydrated and sealed as demonstrated here, Meguiars clearcoat is certified for headlights only!! Your comment is for 2kmax which is 💩on polycarbonate lenses!!!😅

Do you rub the compound all the way in or do you wash it off?

You’ll want to rub it in.

I think that clear coat was not right for your 3M kit. The clear coat says the surface should be cloudy to start, and that's because the clear coat needs some roughness to adhere. So sanding it to 3000 first is an error, and you should sand it dry to 800, and then put the clear coat on it after that. Then sand the clear coat wet with 3000 to get the final shine. 3M has a rub-on clear coat, which is different to the one you used, and that one is probably the right one to apply after wet sanding with 3000. I'd be very curious to see whether this restoration is still good after 1 year.

@@BLUECOLLARGARAGE Makes sense, I use it on my 15 year old e class Mercedes and treat it once a year with the clear coat and so far they still look good.

Nonsense Meguiars clearcoat is a certified Clearcoat with UV protection, Your referring to 2k clearcoat that was never made for headlights??The 3m clearcoat wipes your referring to are OK , Meguiars is a premium product for headlights!!!
@John-eq8cu4 ай бұрын
@@inverterville That's what I thought. Once you do this job, you are stuck maintaining it for the life of the car. Better to avoid doing the job unless it really needs to be done.

My understanding is that sanding or polishing always goes from coarser grit to finer,you never do coarser after having done the fine polishing function I think that all abrasive/sanding residue/polish compound needs to be completely removed or rinsed away and the area completely dried before final coat/clearcoats or UV protectants applied
