If the PVC panel is flexible they will need a tape that has plasticizer resistance so that the outgassing of the plasticizer would not eat into the adhesive bond. Also, it would be necessary to have the plywood coated and not bare. If it's not, a 3M Rubber & Vinyl Spray 80 could be applied to the wood in the areas where the tape will be bonded. I suggest testing either RP45 or 4941 VHB tapes. Digi-Key has various sizes of the 4941 in stock, including disc, rolls and sheets.

Don't get so wrapped up in the application time advantage if your manufacturing process doesn't all for 100% adhesion 48 hours + I love VHB, but if I'm working on a weekend project or something day of, I LOSE time if I don't use rivets. Dude here is honest about adhesion time, but it only applies if you're working 3 days out.

yes the 3m VHB is a very good product and it does everything plus more than the videos itself describes. Though at the end notice that his rivets where 6-8" apart plus and a small rivet with a weak tensile strenght. yes if coarse it will break much easier. The surface area of the 3m tape is over 1000x times more than the rivets. The only advantage is a water and air tight seal

I've had a GoPro mount on my helmet (which is semi-porous, btw) for the last 8 years and it's holding up just fine. All GoPro sticky mounts use VHB.

You...you know they do that, right? Like, modern planes are actually held together with this tape? It's usually in tandem with rivets for redundancy, but exterior panels on airplanes have been held on by this tape since like the 80s.

Hi, do you know what double sided tape stick to wood? I was reading 3M 4950 says wood has to be finished/sealed... I am trying to attach some wood pieces to acrylic photo prints in order to have a wire in the back for hanging (required by gallery). But I tried J-B Weld Epoxy that someone recommended, and it soaked through to the image ruining the print. So someone else suggested 3M VHB tape, but I don't want to have to seal all the wood pieces first, that's a lot of extra work. The weight is not a lot about 2 lb, and I can put about 20 sq in of tape...

Hello Roman, unfortunately tape is never the best option for wood. It will continuously release moisture if it is unfinished, which is why most tapes won't stick to it long term. If you haven't already purchased the wood, I recommend using melamine covered particle board. The tape should have no issues sticking to this material. Otherwise I recommend taking the time to finish the wood if you've already purchased or you may end up with a print dropping and ruining the acrylic as natural wood just won't be reliable. F. Abu-Taha I've heard they actually do use it in some minor repairs and such, seriously. There is also a hotel/skyscraper in Dubai where the windows are held in place(and in fact, what they may have used may have been a special purpose version of this tape, the fact is it looked the same)and they ended up using it for more than just the windows, there are apparently no rivets in the entire building(there may be some in the aluminum frame work used as the "skeleton" of the building" but still, considering the heat and wind in Dubai(I've heard that, particularly up near the top floors, 120-150kph wind gusts aren't uncommon!). I suspect you would recognize the building in question if you see a picture, www.dictionaryofdoctrine.com/files/Dubai_Tower_Sail.jpg That's the building--well, one of them, since a lot of the hotels and other establishments in Dubai were designed by the same group of architects, it's possible this VHB found it's way into other buildings, and almost certainly other buildings around the world, when something works, it works!
