Coincidentally, I came across your video after trying to carbon wrap the mirror on my WHITE G8. I did exactly what you described, and had exactly the same result. Now I get to try again. THANKS.

Thanks. After I tried the mirrors, I did the skirt under the doors. It was larger, but much easier to do. Now I think I am ready to tackle the mirrors again. Your videos are excellent.

Cool idea. This however wouldnt work for the carbon mirror like you showed earlier in the video? Surely the patturn would distort? Thanks anyway :)

Great video, very helpful, thanks. I have a question re. your opinion on whether a Mercedes 2 slatted grille can be wrapped in one. I have a GLA. Thank you.

That has helped very much.... do you do the same with the inside of the mirror... does it work the same... with the very difficult change in direction of the film??

Very helpful info. Camera work not as good. As has been mentioned, does pre stretching distort textured wrap such as carbon fibre designs?

Do you have to spray and prep the area before applying wrap? If so, what do you recommend?

Would this be the ideal process if you were wrapping an item like a goalie mask in a solid color?

How do I tell if I have genuine wrap and not cheap contact which I made a mistake of buying once? I only needed a very small amount to wrap a motorcycle seat cowel. Also how do you cut the wrap without scratching the paintwork?

XLNT Cookie! thank you What about the slightly textured carbon fiber films?. i have 3m 1080 CF material i will using to rewrap the mirrors on my Lexus is300. I did them b4 with an inferior film as i learned the skill, & i did exactly as you describe, used heat and stretch to wrap the compound outer corner/curves..i do have a bit of puckering & i know i can do better. Will the stretch technique work the same as shown with the smooth vinyl in the video using the 1080 carbon fiber film? thanks

What are some general dimensions for mirror wrapping. How big of a piece should I look at per mirror
@3MFilmsANZ6 жыл бұрын
I generally use a piece of film about twice the size of the mirror itself.

could you adhere the film to the flat part of the mirror without pre stretching it and then stretch only the part of the film thats loose (going onto the curved top of the mirror) and then shrink it again to form around the complex contour? this would allow the front to be non stretched thicker material, and not under tension. maybe these factors aren't affected enough to matter I've never done a wrap. but i want to.

absolutely love all your videos Cookie. I have a question. I own a 2003 BA Falcon Ute. I have purchased some wrap but I am concerned about how to tackle the back of the ute where the cover straps over the side onto the knobs. If that makes sense. These are riveted into the body on the sides and the tailgate. I hope to not have to remove them but is there an easy way you can suggest? Maybe make a video on it? :) Any help much appreciated.

Also, I would like to wrap over the XR8 badges on the side skirts and tailgate for that embossed look. is this possible or is it a matter of trial and error?

***** love your video man, just bought matte metallic blue 3m vinyl, about wrap my car, but how to prepare my car for wrapping? just wash it very good? do i need to use any chemicals? any alcohol products? and whats a best place to buy vinyl in my aria? i live in Detroit, MI, US
@uberlymick10 жыл бұрын
What temp do you recommend to run the heat gun at? Also the mirror arm on my car ('13 Mazda 3 hatch) sticks out from the mirror cover. Would you recommend installing the wrap with the cover off the vehicle? As the film wants to just bridge the step instead of hugging to the mirror cover.

Great tip!! Do you think it is gonna work also with bigger parts, like a bike fuel tank? Tks Max
@DJLimez10 жыл бұрын
Massimo Alzati I'm doing a tank now, and you definitely need to stretch it a lot. Fucking tough

what if there's no edge to cut off the excess vinyl? like on an audi? the paint goes all the way to where the actual mirror is.

wont this distort the pattern on a carbon fibre vinyl?
@phillipselorm96210 жыл бұрын
yeah ok. thanks
@blakejohnson84149 жыл бұрын
I'm expecting that pre-stretching carbon fibre wrap would cause it to look fake because the lines of the 'fibre' would be a little squiggly. Small price to pay to have it stay on i guess.

I just threw away 40$ worth of carbon fiber vinyl It was my first attempt. i with i watched this video first I used to big of a piece in the first place which was a waste.
@bigwillisawesome9 жыл бұрын
The best way is to remove the mirror caps and stretch it then tuck the vinyl on the inside of the mirror caps,
