The guy who almost got hit by that mortar round was incredibly lucky that the soil was so soft. The munition detonated mostly underground, which absorbed much of the explosive force and likely trapped the shrapnel. If the ground had been hard, like in winter or in a city, he probably wouldn't have survived.

В Бахмуте на бригада отвечала за сектор в районе Клещеевки(да да, каждая бригада держит не город целиком, а сектор, отведенный ей). Он до сих пор вами не взят, кстати. Пригожин в свое время плакал по этому поводу. Мне вот нравятся русские "патриоты". Ну все про Украину знают (зачастую на карте не находят), но из своих ВСРФ и 10 бригад не назовут 😁

I come from Poland. The message from the soldier is very accurate. But it is even worse, they do not work and are on social benefits, which allows them to go to bars and discos. I understand that they don't want to fight, they can't fight, they don't want to die, etc., but their army also needs rear support. There they could help their country and army. It is sick.

For the military guys, how do you detect where incoming mortars are coming from? Is there some sort of device that can pinpoint things? I know radar can do things to pinpoint with high accuracy artillery fire, with mortars is it the same idea, is there something handheld? Or is it just a "its coming from this direction and we know they can fire up to this distance, so its between there and here." Even then though, is it that easy to determine which direction some of those are coming from? Sorry, 30 questions in one. Would love someone with some more knowledge than me to help please!

you can hear the gun firing in the distance before the shells hit the ground especially if it's bigger like towed artillery or spg. catching the sound of the tube is usually all you really got. these guys know where the front generally is though so i'm sure they can narrow it down too.

В мене знайомий їздив в Росію на заробітки, це було приблизно до 2020 року. Через пару неділь, в чому був одягнутий в тому і утік. Their goal of taking the entire country would require years more of fighting and the losses would be in the millions. Even if they did take all of Ukraine, what did they really gain? A nation in ruins and full of a population that is hostile towards the Russian government? Is that really a victory?
