I remember my elementary school had literally nothing but tether ball players which is what everybody would do at recess or after lunch, so I got around 5 years of just straight tether ball experience. When I went to my middle school, there was a tether ball pole with a tether ball, but nobody played it at all, so when people challenged me, I would absolutely destroy them. Still playing tether ball to this day.

Zak Fuji I actually wasn’t very good at tetherball in grade school. I wasn’t a hard hitter, but I had a little secret to win the game, and nobody could call me on it, so I don’t remember ever being beat. But first I would let the other person wear themselves out the best I could, and then make my move. I had to work so hard that I always went home with blood running down my arm. BTW, I like to watch the old Ali boxing matches. Sometimes I get the impression though that he just wasn’t working as hard at it as he should.

As kids, we, at least the 3 schools that I went to as a kid, didn't know all these rules. Now, I know them. Many of us cheated.
@jasminecook18023 жыл бұрын
For younger schools they make the rules easier like in my elementary school we could touch the rope twice in a game and serve by slinging the ball by the rope. In intermediate school we couldn't touch the rope for anything and you couldn't touch the pole. So it's just the age mainly

My school: no crossing line, no touching pole or rope, no double hits, no fist, no holding the ball even a half a second. If you broke any rule a line of 20 people instantly yell and call you out.
@micl50784 жыл бұрын
And if youre serving it has to be the other person can hit it before you can again, so normally you serve softly. I remember i transferred to private school in 6th grade and a kid served by holding the rope, stepping over the line and throwing it over my head. I caught it and was like umm youre out. Hes like 'what do you mean? Keep playing.' Im just holding the ball waiting for him to leave and he thinks the games still going. Thats when i just quit. Sad day.
@aqua41512 жыл бұрын
My school, no holding, no catching, no double hits (counts as catching), no roping, no crossing, no poling (counts as crossing if u go to other side), no using two hands to hit ball.

Do not hold the ball [ holdy ( idk who made dat up tbh ] These are the rules my school has which I think makes sense. o and 6. Get out at 3 wins 7. Do not argue when called on 8. Don’t stand in the middle of the game as u might get le reked
@youtuuba5 ай бұрын
I don't know why, but my second elementary school outfitted their tether ball poles with chains instead of ropes between pole and ball. Maybe they did that if kids were cutting the ropes and stealing the balls. Anyway, it made the game more painful because that chain really hurt if it hit a kid, or when smacking the ball if a kid's hand hit the chain-ball junction.

5th grader cheated by grabbing the post and did not leave when she lost. On top of it all, since she overstayed her loss, she ended up hurting the 3rd grader. On the other hand, we really enjoyed watching the best tetherballer on the internet do her thing. 3rd grader rocks!!!!!!

I think the 5th grader knew she lost but finished the round just to show how close she was, then she was taking the time to unravel the ball since she was taller. The 3rd grader wanted to stand in the "winner's spot" and was waiting for her to leave.
