The cart is a HUGE improvement. A ramp is next... 😁 I use a dolly, so I don't even have to lift them Basters into a cart, or in my case it would be the wheel barrow. I do drag the logs on to the road before cutting, which allows the small wheels of the dolly to work. It is all about assessing what is best for the situation.

Nice haul! Scheib on my F150 Crewcab I use a cheap Harbor Freight winch hook up to the bed tie down to pull any big rounds to the truck with a car ramp to get them up the tailgate. For the smaller logs I roll them up the ramp. It’s saves my back. FYI I use a 20 volt adapter from Amazon to power up the winch with any of my Dewalt batteries. With that setup the winch becomes portable. I used it to pull logs out of the woods by attaching the winch to any tree as well.

It may be worthwhile to rig up an improvised travois (litter) from a couple of poles fixed to a sturdy tarp and a sling you can pull from around your shoulders to drag those rounds three or four at a time over the land back to your trailer. Your spine is still young but it takes a toll to bend and lift. Just roll a few on the tarp and you only need to lift each one once onto the trailer. NVM. I see that I'm late to the party with my suggestion.👍

Man, I was loading some oak rounds into my F250 last week on the downhill side and I thought I was going to die getting them up to the truck bed. I managed to get 8 loaded but there has to be a better way. I did use one as a "stepping stone" so I didnt have to muscle it up the whole way but still it was a bear. Good work, you are really getting after it!

Hi Scheib. Great idea w/ the game cart. Have you looked at the harbor freight at winches. You could rig a way to attach it to your trailer to winch the logs closer to the trailer to buck them up. Keep up the great work and hopefully you won’t have too many close calls like that one in this video.

It would benefit you to invest in a winch. You could drag larger sections of logs to the trailer instead of all those bucked pieces. If you put your fab skills to work you could incorporate the winch with a hoist so you could load with it too. I made one years ago for loading large logs into the UTV, it's worth it to your back to build it Sheib.

Have you ever thought of getting a lift system to get the large logs into the trailer? I’m 62 and used to cut and split log length wood for my wood furnace. You are in great shape but when you get too tired you can easily tear your shoulder. I know, I did this to both of mine so you need to be careful.
