Bucs and Jags no surprise, they were having good seasons the years before. Rams and Titans clicked that season, but were forming the backbone of the squads during the 2, 3 seasons before I agree with the parity, but their work was pretty good too to leave the more traditional ones out

@@InYourHouse316 I cannot make a serious evaluation, too young to have seen either in depth. I tend to agree though, 2002 was great but their work was cut out on the Super Bowl, since Bill Callahan did not make a change regarding the Jon Gruden offense of the years before. Since Jon was in TB, he handed Monte Kiffin the proverbial keys to his own kingdom. 2002 was awesome, but in 99 the core was much of the same (I think) with the players better physically and truly reaching their peak

I grew up a Bronco fan in the 90s, so when the Jags pulled one of the greatest upsets in history to beat the #1 seed Broncos we all thought, this little expansion team isn't even on our level. It only reaffirmed that position in '97 when I felt like the eventual champion Broncos curbstomped them in the Wild Card. In retrospect, those were some damned good Jags teams. In the 1997 playoffs, they almost came back to beat Denver. And in '99, they only lost to one team all year--a smashmouth team, much like the 97-98 Broncos. They were a great mix of young Turks and crafty vets, and I'm not as bitter about the 1996 Broncos losing to them. They didn't take Jacksonville seriously either, and like the old boxing adage says, that's when an opponent is a serious threat.

I was actually rooting for Jacksonville to get to the Super Bowl because I thought them against the Rams would’ve been an excellent Super Bowl from an entertainment standpoint. But as great of a team as you are, some teams just simply have your number, and that of course was tough, resilient Tennessee Titans led by the late great Steve McNair and Eddie George.

This team reflected the demeanor of its coach. Talented but extremely uptight and stiff. Even though this was technically Coughlin's best season, it may have been his worst coaching job. Man, the Jags could have had a bigger lead without a couple drops and an INT in the end zone...could have been up 24-7 and 24-10 at halftime.......made a huge difference in the game obviously. Steve McNair, my god, how many times did he get away and make a play. Jags fell apart in the second half with mistakes.

What did they do to the ball before the game? How many turnovers was that?

How can I go back a watch the old titan seasons wish I could

It had to hurt bad to have the first seed, putting both Johnson and Marino into retirement in the divisional 63-7, just for all of that to end losing against the Titans.....

14 penalties, 10 fumbles, 3 picks, 6/20 third down conversions, a safety... not the finest game... and yet possibly the less ugly game that weekend!

@NFLVault you guys should do the 1998 Bills vs Dolphins next ahead of next week's wildcard match up. Crazy Game.

Man the Jags had so much promise in those first few years and its just been downhill ever since

Those first few years are their glory period. They haven't been anything like that since.

@@kevinpayton2664 Well the Jags are on the way to winning their division after starting 3-7 and they have a young team led by a stud QB that's finally getting some coaching that is going to scare some teams if they manage to make the playoffs.

@@dsfddsgh They definitely got a shot. They are on a roll right now and they're heading the right direction.

The End of a great story in the NFL. The rise of the Expansion Jaguars. Four consecutive playoff appearances. Two Division titles. Two conference championship games. And just like that, it was over.
