I know zero about cars, but I enjoy this program immensely! Plus I love quoting from you to my son who prides himself on his engine repair knowledge! Kind of like in college when I took Art History about which I also knew nothing! My roommate was an Art major. When I told her I had no answer when called upon to comment about a slide of an art piece. She told me to say, “ it is a brilliant use of negative space!” The prof was always surprised and would then take off for another 30 minutes and I was off the hook!

EXCELLENT! Three on the tree is how I learned to drive in the 60s. Do you know of any videos about taking the slop out of a 68 Dodge 727 auto column shifter?

Honestly I haven't had need to look. BUT!!! Having corrected sloppy shifters (&sloppy women) since I was 16. Shifters have ANYBODY work shifter and watch each piece at it's ends where it joins a different piece for movement. The first piece moves, next doesn't move as active as 1st, THERES SLOP !!! TYPICALLY AN ARRAY OF WASHERS ON Those PIECES ELIMINATES the slop.

Is the piece between the 2 shifter arms at the end of column 1 piece or 2 , I think mine is broken and you never showed a good look at that in this video
@catsandcarsringtailgang6188 Жыл бұрын
Its a single flat plate with a slot that receives pin from 1st- rev plate pin or 2nd -3rd plate pin. Between the two shift levers. I could understand that plate breaking, not impossible. Think losing either pin on other plates would happen 1st. (Providing its a Chrysler mfg. Vehicle. Other manufacturers built different. Appreciate your question, i hope this helps.

Where can you get repair parts for this shifter?
@johnhutsler81223 жыл бұрын
I have a 67 Galaxie with 3 on the tree and the bushing that holds the shift linkage in place at the bottom of that column is gone, so it jams like crazy and gets stuck in neutral. Any idea where I could get the bushing for that?

Being a ASE certified NAPA parts guy(retired). I like trying to find parts like that. (Edit added: if theres a bushing in each of two metal arms sticking out of column for each shift rod should be part #C3TZ-7343A) at Dennis Carpenter Ford parts, or CG Ford parts, also theres place back east & 1 in Tx rebuilds columns.( I originally thought you referred to inside bottom of the collumn itself.) So this should fix you up! While they couldnt help on mine, they might on yours. I searched on line "1967 Ford column shift" got every pickup Ford made. Little info on cars. Good chance same bushing used some cases on P.U. or a very close cousin. I haven't seen a blow up diagram of specifically 1967 Ford car so far. I assume nothing's left of yours. Original is best if course, in a pinch one could be made. (Edit; BTW great find Galaxy with column shift! Even luckier if over 400cubes! Please keep me informed on what you find. I'll keep eye out too. See my other videos, 1960 Plymouth V-8 3 on the tree sure grip rear with tail fins bigger than a 59 Cadillac.
