Just a PSA guys; 3 valves per cylinder with the right-sized valves have 94% or more of the same overall flow potential as 4 and 5 valves per cylinder. The Coyotes are mostly winning due to cams, compression, RPM, and displacement. A fully built Stroker 3-valve with 12:1 compression and cams spec'd by David Vizard will absolutely dunk on most any similar car without a power adder, 10-speed, or ridiculous set of gears in the rear end. Not to mention that to MY ears at least, ANY 3 valve engine (not just the 3 valve ford v8, but like the mercedes 3 valve v12s, v6s, and v8s) sounds better than a 4 valve engine.

I had an 2008 3v. The thing had some serious wheel hop. I couldnt enjoy the car until i fixed it. Very fun to drive with the 5 speed.

My buddy has a fully built turbo 2v 4.6 I mean everything done to it. He made I believe 680 something to the tires and we raced him in our completely bone stock 2018 A10 mustang. I had the drag mode and all that. We smoked him for a minute then he came on by once he built boost but only got us by a car…. Point is…. Ford did their homework with that A10….. the cars are absolutely insane for what they are… simple little 460hp to the crank probably throwing 390 to the tires and they’re hanging with hellcats and Z06 all day long with nothing more than a dang intake and exaust. It’s something to behold if you come to think of it. Put your fan base aside and really think of the homework done on the coyotes and A10 package it’s truly a masterpiece at just 390 tire hp

I love 3V's. Have a 2006 GT myself. Bolt on's, Procharger, etc. Good running car. But the fact is, to build it costs a fortune. You are always up against the heads to make big, consistent power. To get up into the 800-1000 hp range to be competitive on the street with average newer cars you need ported heads, big cams, etc. That's where it gets super pricey. Or, you can use stock Coyote heads with a Gen 2 or 3 bottom end and do it easy for way less. That's the impass I'm at right now.

To be street competitive you do not need 800 to 1000 hp. Anywhere close to 500 and your good against most street cars. Now if you're talking track, that's a different story.

My brother has a high compression 3v that's built with forged internals, ported heads with oversized titanium valves. An on e85. He's got a shit ton done to it. I got a few short vids of it. He gaps my gen2 coyote but I'm basically stock, some simple bolt ons. When my bro dyno 'd the 3v he made 501whp. Guess I should mentions it's 13:1 compression also

Only internals were OEM boss 302 rods. But the engine got a refresh, so crank bearings, rod bearings, and pistons rings were new OEM. GT500 oil pump upgrade, and some more stuff. I have a video on my channel where I break it all down
