Well done...you've given me some new ideas for my old koa Strat w/floyd bridge and locking nut. Been looking for a way or method to go back to a non-locking nut foe while now. Cheers on this!!

Try intonating the guitar, then put the locking nut on correctly. I can change strings on a floyd as fast as you can on any guitar. Everything youre doing here is a compromise, when your guitar isnt set up correctly. Try that first.

No worries

You can get a special tool for adjusting intonation on a floyd. If you block the trem and use the tool it's slightly less awful to do intonation. Skyscraper guitars makes a set of tools for floyd setup that make it much better.

Nice. I might have to do the same to my old Carvin. The nut it came with is a bit odd. For whatever reason the B string got cut lower than the other notches and it constantly makes this high pitch buzz when it's played open. So I've been wanting to replace the nut for years. Since I've got locking tuners it kinda makes sense to go with one of these. And I also tend to block the Floyd Rose alot too so I might have to try the Tremol-no too. Thanks.

soooo, call me dumb but locking tuners are just a creature comfort that make string changes easier right? they do fek all to tuning stability?

@danielnoonan68308 ай бұрын
It had a locking nut for a reason when using the trem your strings loosen at the tuning pegs post the strings can shift if dive bombing it the nut locking stops that you might as well just bought a strat because it's going to fall out of tune

It’s staying in really well and I can change my tuning on the fly. Thank you for your feedback

You can actually leave that shim out between the bridge and the blocks it help with getting better sustain and tone without the shim dampening the block contact

could have saved some money and left the locking nut on but remove the locking pads. will work better than any regular nut and never have to file for different string sizes... plus if you want to lock it again, you could

If the floyd is dive only can you still tune to drop d without jacking up the tuning?
@yoheff9882 ай бұрын
Don't get it, the entire idea of a Floyd is that it locks at the nut, and by that avoiding any friction behind the nut (not the same as at the tuners), and also the string is shorter when locked at the nut, so why have a Floyd at all?

Locking tuners are not comparable to a locking nut, it will no longer stay in tune like it should without a locking nut. These mods ruin the functionality of a perfected design, but hey, to each their own.
