Quick tip, patches are less obvious if you use curves, ie. leaf shaped patches. The human eye picks up straight lines very easily, but ignores the curves.

To add to your well said statement, Mother Nature does not make straight line, Mother Nature make curves which would explain why we pick up on stright lines, because there are so rare in the whole picture of are world! She is a good wood worker I would say Carpenter fit her well and her son must be a happy boy that would also make her a good mother one could say a jack of all trades she has her hands full he is not a teenager yet!

A trick I use for different depth dominos is cut all my shallow ones first. Then cut my deeper ones. If I accidentally cut at the wrong depth it’s a shallow one. The domino is a fickle little minx.

I feel your pain on the depth setting, I’ve done that a couple times. Now, when I am using multiple depths, I set all the parts in batches based on their depth and always due the most shallow setting first. That way, if I forget to change the depth, it will be too shallow and not too deep and go through!

Just a PSA from a pharmacist: make sure that if you want to drink the product advertised by this wonderful creator, that you are medically safe to do so. Some common medications cause increases in these elements and adding more can tip you over. These are essential elements and need to be kept in check, you can’t be either high or low. So if you have any kidney issues or take medications (especially for the heart and blood pressure as some common ones have this side effect, but some other types have this effect as well) check with your doctor or pharmacist first to make sure it’s safe to add more of these elements to your daily intake.

I’ve been working as a professional cabinet maker for 20 years. You did a great job considering wood working isn’t even your main gig. A couple of thoughts I have. I think you could use fewer dominoes and you could explore using an epoxy like west system instead of white glue. There are fast and slow hardeners so you can control glue up time. The wood glue you used needs to be glued under pressure for a much longer period of time than you allowed but honestly it wasn’t a terrible place to compromise quality. You got through job done quickly and its a great quality and design.

Those variations in panel width are most likely the result of cumulative errors when milling the individual boards. In engineering we call it "tolerance stackup" and failing to account for it can lead to some expensive waste when the parts can't be assembled correctly.

@3x3CustomTamar it turned out lovely. Don't think of them as mistakes...it's an opportunity to show us how to problem solve...lol. I feel your frustration. At some point I'll be brave like you to record myself. Hopefully I will have your control and grace when, not if, I make mistakes...lol. Since the dominoes were a contrasting colour...you could have done it on purpose for a design element. If you get a sheet of tempered glass for the top...it will give him the option of storing pictures, reminders, charts, etc under the glass for quick reference and you won't have to worry about drink rings... How about a really cool matching bulletin board, white board with a hidden compartment for treats! More shelves but with mirror backgrounds.

That desk looks absolutely stunning! I wish I had one of those in my room 🤩 The mistakes are completely invisible to most people, don't sweat it. I don't think I'd notice even if you told me they were there (unless you specifically pointed out the exact spot). I do have a question that was in the back of my mind the whole time: how well does the support piece under the drawers hold when it comes to weight and balance? Do you think moving the desk or distributing weight on it differently could affect its stability? If yes, could it be fixed easily (I assume yes)? And if not, how did you come up with that during design? Keep up the amazing work, everything you make is truly inspiring 😁

When I need to change domino depth I start with shorter depth and then change to longer… if I mess up I cut to shallow rather tan too deep 😉…the downside is that if you don’t do dry fit, you will only discover your mistake during glue-up and it can make even bigger mess 😉

A simple rule is to always cut the shallower holes first and I hope this signals the end of youtube woodworkers apologizing for several minutes about using the domino, anybody who can’t figure out there are cheaper ways of doing the same thing probably shouldn’t be using power tools anyway

Just a thought, you should try and 3D print an attachment that snaps on your tape roller to cut it in half.

This desk is beautiful. I think the Marble desk that inspired this looks more like it was just made to be pretty, your version is both attractive and functional. Can you link to the 3D printed panel glue up helpers?

Very nice as always and don't beat yourself up about the Domino. I don't use mine very often so I always have to Google the conversion of MM to Inches :)

That office is awesome, great choice of materials and turn out so beautifull . Among others you teach us crisis behaviour, like yelling noooo look at the camera and other moves 😂😂😂 thanks for that also 😂😂

Awesome desk. Any ideas for adding more vertical height? Would love to see what you would do for a bookcase extension.

Was actually going to build a whole bookshelf that connected to this desk and my son nixed that idea. He wanted them separate 🤷🏻‍♀️

T....amazing build and video. Production world "sounds" like it should be a smoother process, but thanks for reminding us that EVERYONE make mistakes; not just me! P.S. Say the word and I will send you a bag of carrots....I'm beginning to worry about your pencil nibbling addiction 9:43 !! Hahahahah! DD
