4:05 AM 4.0 magnitude earthquake

Early this morning we had a 4.0 magnitude earthquake. While we get earthquakes nearly every day they are usually unnoticeable. We typically get upwards of 200 small earthquakes per year. This earthquake being a 4.0 it was noticeable as it was strong enough you could feel the movement inside the building. While a 4.0 isn't large enough to cause any real damage it is a reminder that we are due for a massive earthquake at any moment likely being a 9.0 or more earthquake. This is a realistic concern as I do live in the area that will be hit very hard when this earthquake hits.

But Lets hope that massive 9.0 earthquake will not go off for many years or even centuries as within the next 50 years there is only a 10-14% chance of it happening which is low isn't it?

@@erikmorozov1740 I believe it's up to a 15% chance in the next 50 years however that percentage is continuously rising as time goes on

@@nics-systems-electric but hopefully it will not go off for at least several decades so maybe 5 decades or so but it's tricky to predict it accurately but hopefully chances eventually will drop down a little

that's crazy. about 6 months ago there was a 3 magnitude earthquake by me that also happened at night. i had no idea it happened until my mom told me in the morning 😂

@@nics-systems-electric I live in Issaquah and I did not feel earthquake at all I don't know why but it was either that in very deep sleep that caused me to not notice it or it was too small to be felt in our area

A earthquake happens when the tectonic plates get too close to one another

Earthquakes happen when there is movement between fault lines in the Earth and massive amounts of stored up potential energy is released. Security system didn't go off because nobody entered the building when the system was armed.

Im almost certain motion sensors only go off with body heat, thats how they know when a person is there

@@nics-systems-electric i thought fire alarm or security go off i got a alarm of my school went in security alarm sounding and fire alarm started but no fire figher came bc they also knew that the earth quake started the security alarm and fire alarm go off at the exaclty the same time bc both of those are wired together bc security alarm didnt have any alarms so its connected to fire alarm bc that is great bc fire alarm and security does fire alarm go full volume sadly i cant make a video on it bc its not allowed and i cant record that sound aswell and my bells are from 1951 and the building was built 2004 so bells are older but the panel is a newer model from 2024 i dont rember name

@@erikmorozov1740 there's two sides to it, I would think it's better for it to happen sooner than later as the energy will only build up more and more and will be more severe when it does happen if it has longer to build up. But more buildings will have been seismically upgraded as time goes on as well.

that big 9.0+ earthquake should not happen for near future as for the next 50 years there is only around 15% chance of that earthquake going off which is low chance so it means that massive earthquake should not be happening for near future. You should do a Earthquake System by having Speakers in rooms say "This is a Earthquake Alert, Take Cover Immediately". You should make them bluetooth so you can play music when the Earthquake is not activated

Install an earthquake sensor that triggers a supervisory on both systems. Wouldnt that be cool? I mean yea you can feel it, but that woukd be much safer if you hab a sensor that triggers at like magnitude 5 or something. STAY SAFE NIC!

That's only useful if it's installed far far away so you get pre-warning otherwise it's useless you'll know it when it hits you early warning seismic detection systems are already in place

and by the way the Cascadia earthquake on average goes off every 300-600 years so 324 years ago is not nessecarely overdue yet of it was like 524 years ago last one then it would be over due and I would be much more concerned about that massive earthquake
